This is my post for #freewriters 2371 prompt safe but unsound hosted by @mariannewest
This was the dock that went out to the fish house that we used to fish for. In 2004 we had back to back hurricanes. I know I have told this story before but it fits this prompt. I took the above picture before the first hurricane hit which was Hurricane Francis.

This picture was taken the next morning after the hurricane went by, there was a lot of debris washed onto the dock and some of the boards were missing. If you walked in the right places you could get to the fish house, you could say it was safe but unsound.

When something like this happens the fishermen help the owners clean up and replace dock boards. This was one of the things that had always happened, we helped each other. Along with all of the fish houses, it is now missing in our town. Like all small towns when something like this happens, I am sure they pull together to help, but something changes when a town grows, people no longer help each other. I have not figured out what changes.

When the second hurricane hit, it took away all of the repairs plus all of the boards leading to the fish house, they lost both ice machines and the fish house was not safe to go into. We had our clam boat tied in a hole on the east side of the river and brought it back and tied it to the dock, we only lost the roof and the doors on the rolling table, but we also lost one of our anchors because the rope broke, we had four anchors, one on each corner. The boat is now sitting in the woods by our house. Now the trees have grown all around it and I think it will be there forever.

Thank you @hivebuzz

All good @myjob! You're a true Hive champion! Onward to that new goal!

I was born in a city, so I cannot answer for certain, but neighborhoods change simply because the people there and the new people coming in do not know each other, and if they cannot build bonds, there is no trust or care between them. I suppose the same things happen in towns.

That sounds about right, the new people who have moved here want to change everything. They want it to look like an old fishing village but do not want to see the fishermen on the river or fish houses.

I have had similar experiences in rural areas. Where we live now, there has been a great influx of city people escaping the more liberal states to the west. They bring their city ways with them, including lots of noise, too many outdoor lights, and always in a hurry. So the rural life has been changing because city people don't know how to live it.

That is what is happening here, I guess it is everywhere.
