Al and the Pansy

The dishwasher was pissed when that pansy got the pantry chef position over him. He'd been hired first. He'd done the damn job (and quite well thank you very much) just the previous week, no training necessary. But the tempura chef accused the dishwasher of toxic masculinity, and back to the dishes went he.

So he was pissed enough to engage in a little, shall we say, sabotage.

It started with tormenting the pantry chef, who was superstitious to the MAX. He was easy to mess with, to break down, to make a fragile little boy of. All Fritz the dishwasher had to do was refuse to use the pantry chef's preferred pronoun, dress up the daikons with ruffles and lace, and hide the ginger in the men's room. That sort of thing. Fritz was nothing if not skilled at some good old fashioned passive aggression.

Fritz had heard the boss exclaim "Al Gore!" when he got the news, so he knew tonight everyone would be on edge.

Perfect for a little revenge.

This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is first hire.

This is also an installment to what I am hoping will grow into a freewriting extravaganza of chain fiction, freewrite stories that grew off of each other like branches of a tree. Please see any of the posts below for inspiration, and write your own. Using the tag #chainfiction as your first tag could help us find your post. And providing your link to the comments of the post(s) you are elaborating on might help too. I dunno! This is a first for me.

Today's story was written as a five minute freewrite (but you don't have to freewrite if you don't want to) in response to @mariannewest's prompt, @bennettitalia's continuation of my story, as well as @deirdyweirdy's. Links to all the stories so far are below.
