The Twenty-Minutes Struggle

For a while, the struggle to find anything that could pick up the interest and poke the floodgate of words of this lazy, bored mind was just getting borderline annoying. The dried land of writing blocks went to the point where the self-setout office hours was starting to feel like a squeezing ticking collar around the already stressed-out neck of mine.

Hence, with a defeated mind and continuous annoying writing blocks, it was time to find a solution on bff of boredom, the internet. Now, not gonna lie, during the finding the reason of such annoying problem and that golden suggestion that could end this never ending suffering (which this time hopefully wouldn’t lead to cancer), the mind did get distracted and wandered around some unrelated topics, one of which actually turned out to be quite depressing. You see, till now I used to think wasting out the time of this life was only my thing, but turned out I am not alone anymore, who knew a whole country is turning this whole thing a silent movement and even gave it a rather poetic name, Let it rot. Although the reason behind why it's happening, is kinda sad, you have to give credit to the Chinese Youth for finding such a silent and powerful protest. It takes creativity and years of frustrated depression to come up with such idea.

And then the interest diverted towards the recent UK bond disaster and I couldn’t help but laugh at the billions dollars tragic drama. You know it’s bad for the economy, but the drama is just too good to not enjoy it. I have to admit, sometimes the politicians of this world produce more entertaining plotlines than the actual entertainment industry. But now that I had set foot on the economic disaster of the current world, it was only about time till the recommendations of that trail would flood the queue of interest, so it was time to crawl out of the trap I set out for myself and focus on the reason I went there in the first place.

It took a while to find any unique suggestion that doesn’t involve that oh so common phrase you need to read more & you need to write more, if it was that easy to follow, I wouldn’t have been coming here in the first place. But luckily, one guy came out as a rescuer, and his suggestion kinda felt experimental enough to trick the blockage mind. His suggestion was to take twenty-minutes out of your everyday life, set the timer, open up a blank page or notebook and just start writing whatever you wanna write. The only rule is, you can’t decide the topic you will be writing on prior to the set up timer. After the end of that twenty-minutes brainstorming writing session, evaluate the writing quality and start improving on that. Such practice should be continued for a whole month without any break.

Well, the thing is, I already tried experimenting with such method and hated the way it made me feel. Writing on anything during such pre-made deadline felt more like writing an essay during an academic exam. It took out that relaxing part of what writing should really be all about. But you see, beggars really can’t be chooser and as a struggling wandering soul in the darkness, it's time for me to buckle up the procrastinating mind and train it to be decent enough.

Let’s see what happens in the next thirty days. Fingers crossed.

ah, that's a new technique! maybe I can try it too whenever I face writer's block. Before that, let's see how you cope up! I think you can overcome! 😊

The thing is, I easily get bored of whatever new methods I get sucked into after a while. Which ended up making things more dull than it was before :3

Let's see how long this experiment will last :v
