Villagers kid mostly learn everything from their grandparents and grandparents being ancient in nature teach everything thru proverbs, two of those old sayings are "first impression is the last impression" and "don't judge a book by its cover" . The prior one means your first impression is going to last forever whereas the latter one says never judge a person based on their first impression. Both the proverbs are contradictory to each other.
Anyways based on this I've to share an event with my neighbors. Basically both of them decided to get a place of their own in the same city where we're on rent, so they went house hunting in the locality. While searching they met a local broker (also known as middleman; he's the contact person for both buyer and seller) so basically his job is to get people nice property to purchase and also sell people's property by giving the effort to find buyer.
My neighbors met him one good day and for having a look at the location which he suggested.
First of let me describe my neighbor's, they are a couple, both of them are middle-aged and does not reflect money in their appearance. Both athletic in nature and profession also they've a better understanding of society and environment based on their experience.
Coming to the location, they walked to the location, as they choose to walk or take public transportation if the location is far from their current place, it is particularly their preference and also it doesn't reflect any inability. Out of nature to do small talk, the broker asked them how did you come here? What transport did you used and they said they walk, he said you could've asked me to pick you guys up as I've a car.
Funny! He considered their preference as their inability, moving on he asked them what do you guys do, they replied that the female works in an ngo and male does his own event management business. Both the profile according to basic understanding are underrated and judgment could easily be made about their financial status. Property and location both were nice also price was accurate considering the location. They actually were thinking about to get the property but then it is a long term commitment and they budgeted that investment quite low as of the current price which he was asking, eventually they decided to drop the plan to get that property and instead of basic ghosting the person they choose to inform him about their this decision. He flipped on them stating you guys were not even capable of buying that, also blaming them that they wasted his time.
First of its his job to show interested buyers their option and also he judged based on their appearance and profession that they are not capable. That is the most hurting thing to say but anyways the women is in an international ngo and does earn double of the basic white collar jobs also the men is an professional mountaineer and has by choice preferred not to work.
We in private organizations get training to judge and entertain customer based on their appearance and that is a very cruel practice to be obvious, because a rich or not rich both the person are going to pay the same for the product or service you provide.
That's it for today, this my take on both the ancient proverbs taught by my elders, what's yours?
