Beyond The Looking Glass is the second book in the Unseen series, a story that came to me from the other side. A story where I thought I was just the narrator until I heard the Words of the Unseen.

This second story goes beyond time and place and mixes the long ago with the here and now. Because history keeps repeating, until we learn and do something about it.

Beyond The Looking Glass - Words of the Unseen - Chapter 1

Dear Reader, as promised long ago I´ll be back.
Every ending is only temporary and that also applies to my previous ending.

Although I didn't know then what I know now, and what I know now is what I'm going to share.

Life has this amazing quality of lifting up its skirts just high enough so you catch a glimpse but have no clue what you are looking at.

I don't think I'll ever be completely convinced that things are really going to change, but at least now I know in the hands in which I'm leaving the fate of my world. I also know it's time to turn back.

I dread leaving the people I have learned to care about. This is no never-ending story, everything is temporary and I am aware of what I have to do.

“In a life, doors close, windows open, everything comes and everything goes, and only an idiot tries to hold on to what needs to be lost.”

After speaking those words, I spur my horse and look back one more time while raising my hand: "You're doing well, friends!"

Because they had become friends. They all have opened up my heart in their own special way and by the Gods, it was about time.

I realize how this long road back starts just like my departure from my little village an eternity ago, alone.

That seems to be the only constant as I am no longer who I was, no longer the inexperienced country bumpkin who sets out to save the world. Now I'm the slightly more experienced lout who returns to save the world.

From that angle, maybe nothing has really changed. All the fear and uncertainty I have endured on this journey has only brought temporary respite.

My brain can't wrap my mind around it, but I believe it.
Where I had doubts before, I am now convinced that no matter how strange the words Numico gave me are, they will once again prove true.

"Martio, I know you long to return home. I know that at the same time, you don't want to leave us behind. But our endless journey ends here. Roads will fork as they should, and your task will be one of the most difficult."

"Together we have managed to change this world, we have adjusted the course on the path of inevitability. You will have to adjust the course of the world again, but not this world. The world far beyond this time, your world one day when you have returned to dust many times."

"Go, friend, be open, because somewhere along the way it will become visible to you. I am not going to destroy that insight with my words. Words before seeing often create blindness and add to the confusion we call life. When you realize it, and you will, is when it needs to be seen."

Gods and seers even now that I have saved the world, they still speak in these horrible riddles.

When will there be a day when things can be called by their given names?

And even though I had already received the answer to that question before, it still irritated me to know that insight only makes sense if it comes from within yourself.

Oniko taught me the lesson early on, telling me that any transferred insight has no intrinsic value until you realize it yourself. That our brain is only ready to realize when the time comes.
That science and knowledge are not equal to insight and understanding.

“Hateful,” I say out loud again as I leave the madness of the city behind me.

Looking back makes no sense, we are made to move forward. I know my future lies ahead, many days traveling ahead. What is worse is that I know myself a little and that I know I should not, but that I will.

I will try to make sense of Numico´s riddle;

"...... we have adjusted the course on the path of inevitability....."
That much is clear, we completed our journey. We met the world's boss, and we were able to influence the direction of the flow of time with a minimum amount of bloodshedding.

".......You will have to adjust the course of the world again....."
Me, while I go back to the middle of nowhere. To a village, nobody knows exists? How will I change any course while being stuck in that little piece of paradise?

It only gets worse, but I keep pondering; ".....but not this world. The world far beyond this time, your world one day, when you have returned to dust many times."

"I hate them, I hate them!" I scream the words into the wide open space I am riding through.

"I hate Gods and Seers and all others that speak in riddles!" My words get lost in the wind as my frustration drives the spurs deeper into the horse's flanks.
