Cuidado si dejabas huellas dactilares en el disco de vinilo, seguramente la aguja se iba a quedar pegada justo en ese sitio, desde luego que eso tenía solución, limpiando el disco adecuadamente. Era mejor agarrarlo por las orillas o por una orilla y el centro, siempre evitando dejar huellas, suciedad y mucho menos dejar que el disco se rallara, se podía arruinar nuestra canción favorita.

En casa de mi mamá el tocadiscos sonaba bastante, ella tenía una buena cantidad de discos de vinilo. Algunas presentaciones venían con doble disco, de esas había una de música infantil, a los niños de la casa nos encantaba, uno de los discos traía las tablas de multiplicar en forma de canciones, lo escuchamos infinidad de veces.

En mis exámenes escritos de matemáticas esas canciones resonaban una y otra vez en mi mente, aunque en los exámenes orales se complicaba un poquito la cosa porque la maestra quería una respuesta rápida y yo tenía que acelerar la música de mi cabeza, aún así me fue muy bien con eso.. Aún recuerdo algunos fragmentos de algunas canciones:

🎶❝Con esta canción que quiero cantar aprenderemos a multiplicar y mientras cantamos alegres un rato, multiplicaremos ahora por cuatro...❞🎶

Ese disco de canciones infantiles era de mis favoritos, también de mis hermanos y hermanas. Como yo era una de la más pequeñas debía esperar a que alguien más colocara el disco, pero cuando aprendí a hacerlo sola era genial y muy fácil, solo encendía el aparato, insertaba el disco, se le colocaba la aguja y así se hacía la magia.

Uno de los favoritos de mi mamá era el de Ray Conniff, en la caratula del disco salía él con una trompeta. Recuerdo haber escuchado este tema miles de veces entre desayunos familiares los fines de semana...

En casa de mi mamá hasta hace unos diez años más o menos quedaban algunos de discos de vinilo en los rincones de los recuerdos pero estando ya muy deteriorados por el abandono, fueron a parar directo a la basura.

Ayer fui a casa de mi amiga G., una señora de la tercera edad, le pregunté si aún conservaba discos de vinilo y ella con mucha emoción me respondió que sí, me mostró su colección y me dejó tomar fotos.

La Sra. G. tiene un gusto musical variado, me mostró discos de música romántica, merengue y salsa.

Un disco de vinilo sin dudas era un buen regalo para ese época, la Sra. G. incluso conserva una especie de cajita de regalo un poco más grande que la carátula de los discos que sirve para guardarlos o envolverlos y darle una bonita presentación si que es se quería obsequiar.

Be careful if you left fingerprints on the vinyl record, because the needle would surely get stuck right there. Of course, there was a solution: clean the record properly. It was best to hold it by the edges or by one edge and the centre, always avoiding leaving fingerprints, dirt, and especially scratches, which could ruin our favourite song.

At my mum's house, the record player was always on; she had quite a collection of vinyl records. Some albums came with two discs, including one with children's music that we loved. One of the discs had multiplication tables set to music, and we listened to it countless times.

During my written maths exams, those songs would play over and over in my head, although things got a bit tricky during the oral exams because the teacher wanted a quick answer and I had to speed up the music in my head. Even so, I did very well. I still remember some fragments of some songs:

🎶❝With this song I want to sing, we will learn to multiply, and while we sing happily for a while, we will now multiply by four...❞🎶

That children's song album was one of my favourites, and also one of my brothers' and sisters'. As I was one of the youngest, I had to wait for someone else to put the record on, but when I learned to do it myself, it was great and very easy. I just turned on the record player, inserted the record, placed the needle on it, and the magic happened.

One of my mum's favourites was by Ray Conniff, and the cover of the record showed him with a trumpet. I remember hearing this song thousands of times during family breakfasts on weekends...

Until about ten years ago, there were still some vinyl records lying around in the corners of my mother's house, but they were in such poor condition from neglect that they ended up straight in the bin.

Yesterday I went to my friend G.'s house, an elderly lady, and asked her if she still had any vinyl records. She replied enthusiastically that she did, showed me her collection, and let me take photos.

Mrs G. has varied musical tastes; she showed me albums of romantic music, merengue and salsa.

A vinyl record was undoubtedly a good gift at that time. Mrs G. even keeps a kind of gift box, slightly larger than the record sleeve, which can be used to store or wrap the records and give them a nice presentation if you want to give them as a gift.
