Inspiration

It can come at any time, anywhere.
Sometimes in the middle of the night.
And if I don't write it down, odds are I'll forget.
Which happens a lot since I rarely write it down.

So where does it come from?
We can't have an original thought?
Everything is already known?
A divine source?
From above? Or below?
Or something we heard from someone.
Just in passing?
Just in between moments?
And it stood out.
It grabbed us by the collar and said “wait a minute.”
Yes, there's something to that.
Especially if we look at from this angle,
and we add the other little item,
and well we are brewing up a creation!

Maybe we're just a vessel for the inspired to come through us.
Or maybe it was planted in us long ago?
Another lifetime? Another age?
Regardless, you either act on it or you don't.
When you do you get on your brainstorm of a surf board and ride the wave.
Every time you fall off you must get back on.
Ride it until you come to shore.
Until you reach that first draft.
Until you say uncle and slide back in your chair for a break.

Whether it be on paper, canvas, clay, stone, metal, wood, stage, or over the air.
Whatever your bent—ride the wave of creation.
See where it leads you.
Give it your most honest effort and you can't go wrong.
Some live for it and some wish for it.
If you know what I mean then you know your way.
Pick up that pen or brush or chisel or whatever implement you use and go to work.

Your conversational tone made this feel very intimate, yet on a universl theme we can all relate to. Hopefully I'll take inspiration form this and it wouldn't be the first time I've got out of bed to write thoughts down :)
