and it was a box of nerds
no, it was a licorice strap of fluorescent nerds
and they put it on their tongue
and it popped and crackled
and there were fireworks
and there was a cake that was chocolate
and it had marshmallows on it
and she said who do think you are it’s not your birthday you’re not that important

STOPI can’t quite pinpoint what it is that like about this so much. I feel like I might now what you’re trying to say with it, but as soon as I think that, I feel more than sure that I have no idea what this poem is about.
But it has great flow and rhythm and voice, and I feel like I’m being taken on a ride when I read it, and that is something that I think a poem should do. Take you on a ride. Give you an experience. Make you feel something and the drop you off somewhere you hadn’t intended to go.
