To Understand,
the waves of hopelessness, that surf the surface of my mind.
The bitterness of memories, that cut me into pieces,
as I navigate my way amongst the truth,
of all that we tried to leave behind.
Digging beneath the surface,
so that we can explore the depths of our mistrust,
held within cycles, that drag our willingness for change into the hands of others.
Misguided,
we project our distorted visions out into the world.
And all this,
this our Responsibility
for all that strikes a cord,
amongst these hollow thoughts.
Swimming against the tide,
we drown.
Pulled under by the force of our denial,
afraid to face the reality of who we have become.
Distorted versions of ourselves,
lost inside these prisons that we hold so dear.
inside dreams that feed off, of our fears.
Any yet,
We have our Choice,
Our Freedom To Choose.
Yes, we have free choice
Yes we do and it's important to remember that xx
Hope you know I'm a fan of your poems?.. You always have a way of capturing the mind of your readers.. I must applaud you for that. Thanks for always capturing my mind with your poems.
Thanks so much @davidbright xxx
A great reflection on the self-built prisons we build for ourselves in our minds.
It's an odd thing when you think about it, and I think it fits into the nature Vs nurture idea. Are these mental prisons we create a reaction to people/things/happenings in the world, or taught behaviours passed down through the generations?
I think it's a case of both of these factors contributing to our conditioning.
Fantastic and thought provoking poem Aishlinn 🙂👍
Yes I agree, it's neither black or white, there are so many factors that influence us.
Thank you for the feedback @raj808, it really means a lot to me, coming from you xxxxx
Moving past and with those old hurts can be so hard. I really liked the positioning of that fluid image you chose with the written imagery of the sharp cutting fractures from the first stanza. The image looks topographic and over time the sharp edges erode... thanks!
Thanks so much @pregosauce, I do create my images and really want them to reflect what I am writing, thank you for acknowledging that xxx
Very nice reflection, this part caught my attention:
Super in love with your images, greetings and great week.
Thanks @joseitosanchezs, wishing you a wonderful week too xxx
indeed, we have our future in our hands, we have the freedom to choose and to move accordingly to our will.
