Yesterday, a simple parcel arrived at my doorstep. But it carried more than just sweets. Inside were 10 boxes of assorted yema tarts, each one destined to bring joy to the people closest to me: my neighbors. I had planned this gesture as a way of saying thank you for their kindness, especially after they surprised me with gifts on my birthday last August.
I started distributing the boxes one by one, each neighbor receiving a little piece of sweetness to share with their family. It was only when I had 4 boxes left that I remembered to take photos, because I wanted to share this moment with the BayaniHive Community. It wasn’t too late. Those last boxes became my chance to capture the spirit of bayanihan in action.

After taking the photos, I happily handed out the remaining boxes. One box stayed with me, of course, but the true joy was in seeing my neighbors smile. For me, these yema tarts weren’t just desserts. They were symbols of gratitude, friendship, and the Filipino spirit of sharing.

In our community, bayanihan isn’t just about helping in times of need. It’s also about celebrating small joys together. A box of yema tart may seem simple, but it carries the sweetness of connection and the warmth of gratitude. I’m thankful for my neighbors, and I’m glad I could give back in my own little way.

How about you? Share your own bayanihan moments—big or small—with the BayaniHive Community. Whether it’s a simple act of kindness or a grand gesture, every story reminds us that the spirit of bayanihan is alive and thriving. Let’s inspire each other with the sweetness of giving!
