Considering the current HBD price we decided to donate part of March funds we received back to the DHF

THANK YOU: First things first... we want to thank all those voting on our Development proposal There are literally thousands of you voting on it. It's making a big impact on what PeakD is able to do.

KEEP AN EYE ON THE NEXT FEW MONTHS
We don't want to share too much, but just keep an eye out on the next few months over at https://peakd.com/
Development may be faster than you've ever seen before in the history of the website. We said that the proposal would do this and it is paying off.

DONATION: Why the donation? Given the price pump of HBD today on the Upbit we exchanged some of our funds. While it wasn't exchanged at the $2 mark it was close and it's awesome and considering that price and how grateful we were to the opportunities the HDF has given PeakD we decided to send back 5000 HBD to the Hive Development Fund.

HBD PRICE: It would be really nice if HBD were pegged to $1 USD ... however in the meantime Hive is certainly making lemonade out of the less than perfect situation. In fact it may even be a really awesome temporary situation. There are presently few if any businesses dependent on the 1:1 peg so while it's not directly hurting any companies In the meantime several users have created opportunities to make the development fund grow by leaps and bounds at anytime HBD is not at the peg... which is great for the long term development of Hive.

For users that aren't aware of how it works.

  1. HBD that goes into @hbdstabilizer account is used to buy Hive from the market each hour.
  2. Then sent back to the @hive.fund account.
  3. Any Hive tokens that are sent to @hive.fund is immediately converted to HBD
  4. And thus the development grows.

You can see it in action on the @hbdstabilizer wallet page... each hour! (Edit... now up to 1800hive an hour from about 660hbd)

This does provide enterprising individuals the opportunity to buy that HBD from the market and sell it on exchanges where the price is way above the intended peg and above the value they bought it for from the internal hive market. #arbitrage

Perhaps it is just my brain fog, but I'm still super confused as to how this works. The way you explained it, isn't it just transferring the same amount around and exchanging it back and forth to the same thing again?
Maybe I just need sleep. LOL

They go to a market spend HBD to buy Hive that other users have offered for sell. Recently buying upwards of 50k hive from the market on a daily basis. Then they send the hive to hive.fund which converts the hive to HBD and the fund grows.

I think what is important to understand is the the Hive Blockchain considers HBD to be worth $1usd there is no price feed for HBD it's just assumed it's worth $1usd. It's people other places that for speculation or manipulation think it should be worth more.

Oh oh oh I think the word I wasn't catching was "convert." When you do the "convert" option, it's different than buying from the market, right?
Narf. Sorry. Brain fog. LOL

No, I believe @peakd mis-spoke. Because "convert" means the same as "exchange for" in the fiat world, it is easy to use that word instead of "trade." There is no blockchain mechanism for converting in this direction.

Ah, so now we see. The hive dev fund converts the Hive from the ninja stake to the HBD and has been doing so since the hard fork from Steem in order to fund projects in hive dollars.

Technically, Hive is traded to HBD, isn't it? Did HF25 already happen?

HF25 has not happened yet
However in a previous HF a long time ago the hive.fund account was allowed to convert and hive sent to it to hbd

Thanks for being awesome and supporting Hive. This is probably one of the easiest to understand explanation of the benefits of the stabilizer proposal.

This is probably one of the easiest to understand explanation of the benefits of the stabilizer proposal.

Hope it helps a lot of users understand it. Maybe the speculators will get word that no one else but them think it's worth anything other than $1 and eventually there will be a nice peg.... but until then we can save up for strong development for years to come.

Hi @peakd @jarvie , I don't know if this goes here but I want to ask.
Are you considering to enable users to embed Facebook videos here on Peakd?

image.png

Just asking

It has never been requested before. Didn't even know fb allowed that ability... is it common are there sites that have fb videos embedded often?

I saw some news sites embed FB videos, I think they were live streaming some natural disaster but I cant tell exactly which site.

Is there any way to request or how it can be requested?

Vimeo is a less used site and the embed code can be used here on PeakD, I don't see why FB videos can't be embeded.

We have noted the request I'll pass it along but it would be better if more than one person in 3 years makes the request so we should see. For the record vimeo is used way more... by our users.

Cool! Great post!
