The Android 12 is now unsupported (2025.07.05)

Currently I am still using a Motorola Moto G22 (2022) smartphone with the latest security updates from 2025.03.05, which I installed on 2025.03.24.

In the previous few weeks I experienced problems about notifications with WhatsApp, and I noticed that there is an available WhatsApp update, and I updated it on 2025.07.03.

Today (on 2025.07.05) I checked the Android system updates too, and there is no available updates since March.

I checked the Wikipedia too, and according to Wikipedia, it became unsupported as of 2025.03.03.

According to the TechRadar and to the Android Authority, the support for Android 12 is officially ended on 2025.03.31.

So approximately four months ago.

And since newer versions of Android are not available for the Motorola Moto G22 smartphone, soon I will have to buy a new smartphone, or a new tablet, or a new laptop.

Because I really would not like to manage my bank account and my investments with an outdated, unsupported operating system, which is more exposed to security risks than the currently supported versions.

According to the Wikipedia, Android 12 was the fourth most widely used version of Android in the previous month (in June).

If you also use older devices, then it is highly recommended to check the availability of the software updates for security reasons.

My Android system is updated and I am using an old phone but I will purchase a new phone in upcoming two or three months I have planned for that. The reason why I am purchase a new phone because I am unable to use my banking application send a few their applications due to the older version of the Android

My brother also experienced the same (unable to use the banking application because of older Android version) with his older smartphone.

He still did banking on that smartphone too by logging in to his internet bank on the website of his bank.

A few months ago he bought a newer smartphone (Vivo Y33S), which is still old, but he is able to use the banking application too on this smartphone.

Depending on the available services of your bank, maybe you are also able to log in to your bank account on the website of your bank on your current smartphone.

Just a suggestion.

I am not as worried about my Laptop OS version as the mobile Android version! However, Just checked it! Looks like my version is 14!!

Hence, I am safe 😁

Sorry to hear that you have to go for a new one!

The Honor 200 Lite (2024 April) is a newer smartphone than the Motorola Moto G22 (2022 March) smartphone.

Probably there will be software security updates for the Honor 200 Lite smartphone for a few more years.

I hope so!

I am not the type of guy who buys a brand new phone whenever it is released. I only buy when the old one is dead! So, I hope that my honor won't die soon!
