Walk with me through the mesmerizing city of Prague

Finally, we arrive at our main destination - the beautiful Prague! Welcome back, Hivers. We are continuing with the third part of our road trip. We entered the Czech Republic last time and now we are getting to the capital. We've heard so many amazing things about the city that we can't wait to go out and explore!

Our apartment is nice and a bit further from the center area, around 5km, but likely there's a metro station nearby. Since we don't have subway in Belgrade, we are really impressed how everything is organized here and how you can quickly get to the important locations in the city.

Taking photographs in the subway was also something I always wanted to try. So let's start with the photograph above. Friend gladly accepted to pose for this one - standing still in front of a motion blurred, arriving train. That's a winning shot and one of my favorites from the trip. Love how the colors and lines aligned. Below is another shot from an empty subway, just the man and his dog waiting for the ride.

Everywhere you look when you get near the heart of the city has something interesting or beautiful to show. Like this statue of a man with briefcase flying with his umbrella, or the impressive gateway bridges connecting buildings in the photo above.

To Prague, you really come for architecture. It's a blend of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and modern style. We are amazed by interesting ornaments, patterns and intricate details on most buildings.

Contrary to classical architecture, below you can see the Dancing building, an interesting modern concept and the architectural marvel. It's a two part building that looks like a pair of dancers. It's meant to portray two parts, one static and the other dynamic. Like yin and yang.

Prague is known for the many beautiful bridges. The most famous one of course is Charles bridge, pedestrian bridge which we'll talk about in the next part. If you get up on a certain altitude or have a drone, you can photograph the panorama of the city with many bridges cascading behind one another.

Road by the Vltava river, which goes through the city, is well organized for pedestrians or anyone wanting to chill while gazing at the water. You can rent pedal boats, which we did, and sail under the bridges while watching the breathtaking buildings along the river. Photos from that adventure in the next post.

Another nice things to see is that parks are full with people relaxing, chatting, picnicking. And you can find these beautiful, clean parks everywhere, especially near the river.

Photo from a candy shop. These candy shops are almost on every corner downtown, I guess Czech people are real sweet tooths. :)

These two monuments (Clock and the Church) are set in the heart of the old town square and are mesmerizing pieces of architecture. The clock is built over 600 years ago and hasn't stopped working since. It consists of astronomical and calendar dial and also has astrological wheel that reflects the current position of Sun and Moon.

Starting at every hour (between 9am and 11pm) you can witness hourly show - small windows at the top open and 12 apostles spin by the window with classical music playing.

It's not only a measuring tool to track the passing time but also a significant monument and work of art that shows Prague's rich history.

I hope these photos teleported you, at least for a short while, to the beautiful city of Prague! Stay tuned for more. :)

😊I was teleported to the city of Prague. All the photos are truly beautiful and they all capture the mesmerizing beauty of Prague. The first photo is amazing and a wonderful shot. I love it!. I must confess that I love the city's architecture. It has a good blend of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and modern styles all together. The Astronomical clock is gigantic makes me how loud its classical music will be. I will one day visit Prague, no skipping😄.Thank you for sharing these captivating glimpses of Prague. I enjoyed reading your post.

I have some footage of the hourly show at the clock, but it's too much work to upload here. What a fascinating city! It has some downsides though which I might write about in the next post. But overall it was great, especially with all the amazing architecture and famous cultural, historic spots. Thank you for following along! :)

It's nice to see the city I've lived in all my life through the eyes of another photographer. Lately I've neglected Prague somewhat, but I'm currently working on a few concepts to capture the current form of the city. The subway is one of the objects and the other is brutalist architecture that is slowly disappearing.

I'm sure you were lucky to grow up in such beautiful city! Indeed, it's happening everywhere, important historic monuments are being hidden with dull, modern buildings. It's a shame. Looking forward to seeing your projects!

Wow, Amazing, all of the building construction and design in Europe is always amazed me.

That's one of the reasons I'm still living here and not escaping to the tropics. :) The architecture is just beautiful. Hope you get to visit one day!
