En esta oportunidad quiero hablarles de un lugar muy especial que conocí y que por supuesto ¡me ha encantado!. Se trata del pueblo de Cobas do Río, ubicado en España, específicamente en Galicia. Es un pueblo tan pequeño, con tan pocos habitantes que no es muy conocido, al menos es la impresión que me dió al hablar de él con otros gallegos de ciudad y la mayoría no lo conocen, tal vez esto es lo que lo hace más interesante.

This time I want to tell you about a very special place that I met and that of course I loved! It is the village of Cobas do Rio, located in Spain, specifically in Galicia. It is such a small town, with so few inhabitants that it is not very well known, at least that is the impression I got when talking about it with other Galicians from the city and most of them do not know it, maybe this is what makes it more interesting.

España comprende un gran número de pueblos que como éste poseen muy pocos habitantes, de hecho hay un proyecto de repoblación que anima a las comunidades a vivir en ellos, promocionando la adquisición de inmuebles a bajos precios y un costo de vida accesible al compararlos con ciudades más grandes y populares, los extranjeros han sido los más atraídos por este proyecto. De hecho, tuve la oportunidad de conocer a este pueblo, o mejor dicho aldea, gracias a que unos amigos compraron una pequeña casa allí aprovechando el costo accesible de la misma, además de que al estar expuestos al constante estrés que se vive en la ciudad, buscaban un ambiente agradable, tranquilo y lleno de naturaleza para poder escapar los fines de semana.

Spain comprises a large number of villages that like this one have very few inhabitants, in fact there is a repopulation project that encourages communities to live in them, promoting the acquisition of real estate at low prices and an affordable cost of living when compared to larger and more popular cities, foreigners have been the most attracted by this project. In fact, I had the opportunity to get to know this town, or rather village, thanks to some friends who bought a small house there taking advantage of the affordable cost of the same, in addition to being exposed to the constant stress that is lived in the city, they were looking for a pleasant, quiet and full of nature to escape on weekends.

Lo más especial de esta aldea es su gente, la mayoría son adultos mayores, pero lo bueno es que sus familiares vienen a visitarlos muy seguido y además entre ellos se apoyan mucho, son como una gran familia.

Al llegar a España no conocía a casi nadie y las primeras personas que tuve la oportunidad de conocer fueron las que viven en Cobas do rio; son personas amables y fuertes, prácticamente viven de sus propias siembras y son muy serviciales, siempre tienen algo que ofrecerte como muestra de cortesía. Mi amigo organizó una reunión para conocernos un poco más y todos colaboraron con un aperitivo para pasar una tarde agradable, ¡hubo comida de sobra! 😄

The most special thing about this village is its people, most of them are elderly, but the good thing is that their relatives come to visit them very often and also they support each other a lot, they are like a big family.

When I arrived in Spain I knew almost no one and the first people I had the opportunity to meet were those who live in Cobas do rio; they are kind and strong people, they practically live off their own crops and they are very helpful, they always have something to offer you as a sign of courtesy. My friend organized a meeting to get to know each other a little better and everyone pitched in with an appetizer for a nice evening, there was plenty of food to spare! 😄

Ese día me fijé de lo felices que son algunas personas sin la necesidad de tantas cosas materiales, personas que han vivido tanto y que al final de sus días lo único que desean es tener una vida tranquila bajo la gracia de la naturaleza; admiro la longevidad que se aprecia en este pueblo,el espíritu de lucha y fortaleza me motivan a mirar las cosas desde otra perspectiva, desde la sencillez.

That day I noticed how happy some people are without the need for so many material things, people who have lived so long and at the end of their days the only thing they want is to have a quiet life under the grace of nature; I admire the longevity that is appreciated in this town, the fighting spirit and strength motivate me to look at things from another perspective, from simplicity.

Estas personas viven en un lugar olvidado y desconocido por muchos, de hecho a unos cuantos metros se encuentra otro pueblo que si ha estado abandonado desde hace muchísimos años; de hecho, tuvimos la oportunidad de visitarlo. Es triste ver como ha quedado en el olvido, pero los restos de este lugar cuentan su historia, pude imaginar sus calles y su gente, que seguramente eran igual de encantadoras que las personas que habitan cobas do rio.

These people live in a place forgotten and unknown by many, in fact a few meters away is another village that has been abandoned for many years; in fact, we had the opportunity to visit it. It is sad to see how it has been forgotten, but the remains of this place tell its history, I could imagine its streets and its people, who surely were just as charming as the people who live in Cobas do Rio.
