After succumbing to the fatigue of a lengthy drive, I found myself waking up around 6:00 a.m. Eager to witness the beauty of the sunrise, I swiftly got out of bed and headed for a refreshing shower. The anticipation of a new day filled with possibilities fueled my energy.

With the cleansing water revitalizing my senses, I emerged from the shower, donned fresh clothes, and awakened my youngest son. Together, we ventured out onto the balcony, greeted by the early morning tranquility. The air was crisp and invigorating, carrying the promise of a day filled with new experiences.

In the morning, the air was incredibly fresh, accompanied by a constant gentle breeze. Despite the subdued light in the sky, the surrounding atmosphere was remarkably beautiful, capturing the essence of dawn even without the visible sunrise.

The ambiance at Fah Talai Chon Resort is adorned in soothing blue and white tones. When we arrived here last night, it initially seemed like a modest guesthouse. However, as the morning unfolded, a revelation struck – this was not just a guesthouse but a charming seaside resort.

The interior of the resort boasted exquisite decorations, creating a visually appealing environment. Numerous photo corners dotted the premises, adding to the overall aesthetic charm. The surprise transformation from a seemingly small guesthouse to a well-appointed seaside resort enhanced our appreciation for the hidden gems that can be discovered during our travels.

The rooms at this establishment come with various price points. For our accommodation, the cost is 700 baht per night, and this includes a delectable buffet breakfast. The breakfast options offer a variety of Thai dishes, and while choices for Western fare are limited to toast, the array of Thai delicacies is inviting.

Considering the diverse preferences of guests, I decided to go for a cup of porridge and a slice of toast. The Thai desserts available were particularly enticing, not only for their delicious taste but also for their exquisite presentation, making them even more appetizing. The thoughtfully curated breakfast menu reflected the hospitality of the place, catering to both local and international tastes.

Having enjoyed a hearty breakfast, I strolled out towards the seaside, eager to catch a glimpse of the sunrise. However, the atmospheric conditions were not ideal, with only a faint sun attempting to penetrate the sky. Although this coastal area lacked sandy beaches and featured water that was neither clear nor suitable for swimming, it exuded a tranquil vibe, perfect for relaxation.

Surveying the surroundings, I observed the unique landscape adorned with numerous large rocks strategically stacked together, forming a protective wave break. This architectural arrangement served as a testament to the strength of the waves and the prevailing winds in the area. The powerful forces of nature, evident in the sturdy formation of these rocks, added an intriguing dimension to the coastal scenery, highlighting the dual nature of this seaside destination—serene yet formidable.

Taking advantage of the cool morning weather, I strolled, soaking in the tranquility. In this area, the sea's morning glory was in full bloom under the gentle morning light. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Sea Morning Glory carries practical benefits as well. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, this coastal plant serves as a natural remedy. It is said to act as an antidote for poison from fire jellyfish, aiding in quick healing without leaving behind any scars. Nature's remedies, seamlessly woven into the beauty of the surroundings, added an intriguing layer to the coastal experience.

This stretch of coastal beauty is known as "Klong Wan Beach," extending for about 4 kilometers. Nestled within its expanse is a quaint fishing village. The prominent feature of this locale is a sizable mountain that, according to locals, bears a striking resemblance to a whale. Hence, the area has aptly earned the name Klong Wan Beach, inspired by the distinctive shape of this mountain.

Adding to its charm, Klong Wan Beach is adorned with a flourishing mangrove forest, further enhancing its appeal as a marine tourist attraction. The serene atmosphere and the unique blend of coastal and village life make it an exceptionally quiet and worthwhile destination to explore. This hidden gem promises a peaceful escape and a chance to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of Klong Wan Beach.

In addition to its natural wonders, Klong Wan Beach is also home to the Father Khao Daeng Shrine, a revered site where people gather to pay their respects and offer homage. Constructed in 2012, this shrine holds a special place in the hearts of the locals. Recognizing its significance, I made a visit to the shrine to pay my respects and seek blessings.

The act of paying homage and seeking blessings at the Father Khao Daeng Shrine is a cultural and spiritual tradition that resonates deeply with the community. The shrine serves as a symbol of reverence and a focal point for those seeking solace, guidance, and positive energy. It was a humbling experience to be a part of this sacred ritual, connecting with the local traditions and the spiritual essence that enriches the cultural tapestry of Klong Wan Beach.

Following my visit to Father Khao Daeng Shrine, where I paid homage and sought blessings, I retraced my steps along the same route. By around 8:10 a.m., the weather began to shift, transitioning into the warmth of a hot morning. The surroundings along Klong Wan Beach primarily featured resorts and guesthouses, interspersed with pockets of local villagers.

Despite the burgeoning tourism infrastructure, a close-knit community of villagers still thrives in this coastal area. Many of them are fishermen, earning their livelihood from the bountiful sea. During my walk back, I encountered scenes of fishermen industriously drying squid, and preparing their catch for sale at the local market. This glimpse into the daily lives of the villagers added a layer of authenticity to the coastal experience, showcasing the harmonious coexistence of traditional livelihoods and the burgeoning tourism industry.

Upon reaching the resort, I decided to take a brief respite, given the intensifying heat of the morning. After a short break, I made my way back to the room to gather my belongings, preparing for the next leg of the journey back to Phuket.

The time spent at Klong Wan Beach, paying homage, exploring the surroundings, and witnessing the daily lives of the villagers, had been enriching. As I loaded my luggage, I carried with me not just the physical mementos but also the memories of a serene coastal haven and the vibrant local community. Ready to depart, I bid farewell to Klong Wan Beach, cherishing the experiences and setting out for the familiar shores of Phuket with a heart full of gratitude for the journey.
