Traveling is about learning new things!

Hello everyone

At the beginning of the month, Phuket had heavy rain every day which made in many ways areas of Phuket have flash floods. Including my house was flooded in the middle of the night. I woke up in the morning to be shocked that the flood water reached the parking area of the house. But fortunately, the flood only lasted 1 day, and the water receded and returned to normal.

When the situation returned to normal, there was nothing to worry about. So my son and I traveled to visit my sister and her family in Tak Province. As it was my son's school break for 25 days and we hadn't seen each other for about 3 years, my son and I wanted to visit them. But have to take a plane from Phuket to Don Mueang Airport Then take a flight from Don Mueang Airport to Mae Sot District, Tak Province. There is no direct airline from Phuket to Mae Sot District, Tak Province, so I choose to fly from Phuket to Chiang Mai Airport.

So my husband made a plane ticket and hotel reservation for my son and me. This time my husband didn't go because he had to work and take care of our two cats. This is my son's first trip to Chiang Mai. We have to get on the plane at 7:00 p.m. It takes about 2 hours from Phuket to Chiang Mai.

Around 1:00 p.m., my husband drove me and my son to Phuket Airport. because at that time there was flooding in many areas including the route to the airport So we set aside several hours. But it turned out that the road was flooded for a short distance and diverted to use another route instead. So the traffic doesn't follow what we expected. My son and I went to wait at the airport for almost 5 hours.😩😩

For the 5 hours we waited for boarding, many flights were postponed and canceled because of the bad weather due to heavy rain all the time. Luckily, our flight was not postponed or canceled we boarded the plane on time.

At almost 9 p.m, the plane started to descend to land at Chiang Mai Airport. This is the night atmosphere of Chiang Mai finally, we reached Chiang Mai safely yeah....yeah

After the plane landed, my son and I took a taxi to take us to the hotel. The taxi cost 150 baht (4.19$) and took only 15 minutes because the hotel I booked was not far from the airport. Around 9:30 a.m. I checked into the accommodation. This hotel is in a small alley it is a medium-sized hotel with 3 floors the hotel is decorated in Thai Lanna style.

After checking in, the staff led us to the elevator. Our room is on the 3rd floor.

The door of the room is carved wood with Thai patterns. Each room has a different pattern.

When opening the door to enter the room, on the right-hand side is a fairly wide bathroom.

Next to the bathroom is a bed I booked a double bedroom, which is decorated in Thai Lanna style just like the hotel. Reminds me of the traditional Thai period drama I enjoyed watching as a child.

After collecting the luggage so my son and I asked the receptionist if there was a restaurant in this area because we were very hungry. He, therefore, suggested that there are many restaurants not far from the hotel. So my son and I walked as the receptionist told me the food we ate that night was inexpensive street food.

Close to street food, there is a tourist attraction that is popular with Chiang Mai residents and general tourists, namely "Khlong Mae Kha" An ancient canal that used to have severely polluted water caused by the intrusion of the canal until becoming a slum community. In 2017, the Khlong Mae Kha was renovated and organized to be clean. Adjust the landscape to be beautiful by planting flowers along the Khlong Mae Kha. The houses along the Khlong Mae Kha on both sides have turned into restaurants and souvenir shops able to generate income for the community and villagers nearby. And is a new tourist point in Chiang Mai because this canal is similar to the Otaru canal in Japan making tourists popular to come here day and night.

After eating, I took my son for a walk around Khlong Mae Kha. At night, only the drink shops are still open because it's late. Both sides of the canal are decorated with lights, making the canal bright and beautiful. And there is also beautiful wall art for tourists to take pictures or selfies as well.

Khlong Mae Kha has a distance of about 1 kilometer. There are 2 bridges over the canal and the bridge over the canal is painted bright yellow. It is another popular spot for tourists to take pictures.

My son and I took a short walk at Khlong Mae Kha because the weather during the night was cool. And our son was tired from the journey so walk back to the hotel which takes about 10 minutes.

Around the end of October, Thailand begins to enter winter. I wake up around 6 a.m. to go for a walk to see the sunrise and the morning atmosphere of Khlong Mae Kha. The weather was cold, people began to wear long sleeves to protect against the cold in the morning the air here is very fresh, and still no tourists. I saw the way of life of the villagers in the morning some people were sweeping up the solid waste, watering plants and flowers in front of their own houses, planted along the Khlong Mae Kha.

Each house next to the Khlong Mae Kha had to clean and take care of the flowers in front of its own house to be clean and beautiful. If you walk along the Mae Kha canal, you will see beautiful flower varieties that are blooming along the canal.

Most of the houses along the Khlong Mae Kha are small houses built from wood or bamboo, it is considered a slum community where there is still poverty.

But after the Khlong Mae Kha has developed into a tourist attraction may increase the income of people in the community. Anyone who comes to visit here, please support the products of the Khlong Mae Kha community as well.

Tired of walking and needing to find something to increase my energy there are restaurants nearby so, I stop by for food. This dish is "Pad Thai", which many people probably know. It's fast food that's delicious and easy to find. Pad Thai is made from rice noodles stir-fried with prawns and seasonings, served with roasted peanuts, lime, bean sprouts, and other vegetables.

This dish is a local dish of the North it is called "Chicken Khao Soi", noodles in soup. It has a unique flavor that makes foreign tourists come to Thailand and want to taste the taste.

This is a side dish that goes well with khao soi sour pickles, lime, and shallots.

In the afternoon, my son and I went to pay homage to various temples which are not far from the hotel. We spent the day walking around Chiang Mai.

The next morning, around 10 a.m., I checked out to travel to visit my sister and family in Tak Province. The 2 days in Chiang Mai were fun and very impressive. My last visit to Chiang Mai was 11 years ago. This time there have been many changes there are many attractions that I would like to visit. But will have to find some free time next time.

After checking out, we took a minibus to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal to travel to Tak Province.
