Hello friends of Hive,
Are you ready for a new trip together?!
In this post I will take you to Europe and precisely in one of the most coveted cities in
northern Europe and that is a must visit at least once in your life.
But before I talk about the city, I would like to talk about a magical place. As you well know
Holland is famous for tulips and windmills, so during my short trip I couldn’t miss ZAANSE
SCHANS mills .

siete pronti per un nuovo viaggio insieme?! In questo post vi porterò in Europa e precisamente in una delle città più ambite del nord Europa e che è d’obbligo visitare almeno una volta nella vita. Prima però di parlarvi della città, vorrei invece parlarvi di un luogo magico. Come ben sapete
l’Olanda è famosissima per i tulipani e per i mulini a vento, quindi durante il mio breve viaggio non potevo assolutamente perdermi i MULINI DI ZAANSE SCHANS.
Visiting the village of the mills from Amsterdam is very easy, just go to the
central station, make the ticket for the train to Uitgeest and get off at the fourth
stop, Koog-Zaandijk. Zaanse Schans is about 20 km from Amsterdam and can
be reached by train in about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the station you
have to walk for about 10 minutes following the signs before arriving at the
village. Once you cross the bridge over the river Zaan you have reached your
destination.
Visitare il villaggio dei mulini partendo da Amsterdam è molto facile, basta recarsi alla
stazione centrale, fare il biglietto per

e scendere alla quarta
treno per Uitgeest
fermata, Koog-Zaandijk. Zaanse Schans dista circa 20 km da Amsterdam ed in treno è possibile raggiungerlo in 30 minuti circa. Una volta arrivati alla stazione bisogna camminare per circa 10 minuti seguendo le indicazioni prima di arrivare al villaggio, una volta oltrepassato il ponte sul fiume Zaan si è giunti a destinazione.
The history of the village:
This village is located in a very productive area of Holland and once here there
were a thousand windmills that were used mainly for the processing of flour,
then the production was diversified.
Obviously with the advent of the factories and the speeding up of the work
thanks to the industries, the mills lost their main function but they remained,
however symbol of the nation.
La storia del villaggio:
Questo villaggio si trova in una zona molto produttiva dell’Olanda e una volta
qui vi erano un migliaio di mulini a vento che venivano utilizzati principalmente
per la lavorazione delle farine, successivamente venne diversificata la
produzione.
ovviamente con l’avvento delle fabbriche e la velocizzazione del lavoro grazie
alle industrie, i mulini persero la loro principale funzione ma rimasero
comunque simbolo della nazione.
The visit to the village is free, there is no ticket to pay, access is completely
free. For a fee are the entrance to the various mills, where you can visit the
various structures and also see some manufacturing processes that still
happen today.
In fact the village is really small, there are about 40 inhabited houses and
about ten mills, where, as mentioned before, they are still used for the
production of products.
The site is very picturesque rich in greenery, animals and the passage of the
river Zaan makes everything even more fascinating.
Il visita al villaggio è gratuita, non c’è un biglietto di ingresso da pagare,
l’accesso è completamente libero. A pagamento sono l’ingresso ai vari mulini,
dove è possibile visitare le varie strutture e vedere anche alcuni processi di
realizzazione di manufatti che ancora oggi avvengono.
Infatti il paesino è veramente piccolo, ci sono circa 40 case abitate e una
decina di mulini, dove, come detto prima, vengono ancora utilizzati per la
produzione di prodotti.
Il sito è molto suggestivo ricco di verde, animali e il passaggio del fiume Zaan
rende tutto ancora più affascinante.
Once we arrived at our destination we visited the whole village of the mills
outside, we visited only the sawmill, dedicated to the realization of the famous
Dutch clogs.
A carpenter explained and showed the whole process of making the clogs and
there was also the possibility of buying them.
Una volta giunti a destinazione abbiamo visitato all’esterno tutto il villaggio dei
mulini, abbiamo visitato unicamente la segheria, dedicata alla realizzazione dei
famosi zoccoli olandesi.
Un falegname spiegava e mostrava tutto il processo di realizzazione degli
zoccoli e vi era anche la possibilità di acquistarli.
There are also shops where you can taste local products, for example
stroopwafel, a typical dessert, consisting of two waffles with a caramel icing
inside. That’s all I’ve been eating the whole trip.
There is also the possibility to rent the boat and take a boat ride on the river,
unfortunately I could not do it for lack of time but if I had to return to
Amsterdam I would definitely book this visit.

Ci sono poi anche negozietti dove è possibile degustare i prodotti locali, per
esempio gli stroopwafel, dolce tipico, composto da due cialde con all’interno
una glassa al caramello. Io per tutto il viaggio non ho fatto altro che mangiare
solo quelli.
Vi è anche la possibilità di noleggiare il battello e di fare un giro in barca sul
fiume, purtroppo io non sono riuscita a farlo per mancanza di tempo ma se
dovessi tornare ad Amsterdam sicuramente prenoterei questa visita.
