Hello fellow travelers, for those interested in venturing into the mountains, today I bring you one of the most complete trails in Portugal, it is the "Trilho Baloiço do Forte"! To get here we must visit the village of Carvalha in the parish of "Penalva de Alva" it is also known as the village of dreams and for many years it is a quiet and natural place for reformed people and people who want to live away from the city, on my journey I had to walk more than 16km between mountains and rivers to reach more than 400 meters high where the swing is!🌻🌲
Hola amigos viajeros, para los interesados en aventurarse en las montanas hoy te traigo uno de los senderos mas completos de Portugal, se trata del "Trilho Baloiço do Forte"! para llegar aqui debemos visitar la aldea de Carvalha en la freguesia de "Penalva de Alva" tambien se le conoce como la aldea de los suenos y es que por muchos anos es un lugar tranquilo y natural para reformados y personas que quieren vivir lejos de la ciudad, en mi travesia tuve que caminar mas de 16km entre montanas y rios para llegar a mas de 400 metros de altura donde esta el columpio!🚵🏻🌷🍍
Why do the carvalha swing trail?🌍/Por que hacer el sendero de columpio de carvalha?🚩
This trail is one of the most visited north of Lisbon, to get here we have to travel about 25 minutes from the center of Lisbon to the village of Carvalha and from there the trail will begin, it is signposted and circular so there is no way to get lost Throughout our walk we will visit typical villages in the area, many wineries, windmills, palaces, and wonderful natural places such as waterfalls, which is why I emphasize that it is a super fun trail full of adrenaline, don't worry. You don't have to climb mountains and it doesn't demand much physical demand either, it will depend on you where you want to start it, the starting point being the village of "Santiago dos velhos" which was from here where I started and you walk about 12km!🚵🏻🌲🌻
Este sendero es uno de los mas visitados al norte de Lisboa, para llegar aqui tenemos que viajar unos 25 minutos desde el centro de Lisboa hasta la aldea de Carvalha y desde alli comenzara el sendero, es senalizado y circular por tanto no hay forma de perdernos, a lo largo de nuestra caminata vamos a visitar aldeas tipicas de la zona, muchos vineros, molinos de viento, palacios, y lugares maravillosos naturales como cascadas, por eso hago enfasis que es un sendero super divertido y lleno de adrenalina, no te preocupes no tienes que escalar montanas y tampoco demanda mucha exigencia fisica, dependera de ti desde donde quieres iniciarlo, siendo el punto inicial la aldea de "Santiago dos velhos" que fue desde aqui donde comence y se camina unos 12km!🌍🌿🍁

This is where the walk began, following the signs, starting we have the village "Santiago dos velhos" which I would say is more modern and more populated than "Carvalha", here we can visit the main church some other points of tourist interest such as the station firefighters, the municipal chamber, among other things, I saw that there are many country houses with crops that have the typical tile decorating their walls! From here we will walk approximately 4km until we reach the mills!🌻🚙🍀
Aqui es donde comenzo la caminata, siguiendo las senalizaciones, comenzando tenemos la aldea "Santiago dos velhos" que diria que es mas moderna y mas poblada que "Carvalha", aqui podemos visitar la iglesia principal algunos otros puntos de interes turistico como la estacion de bomberos la camara municipal entre otras cosas, vi que hay muchas casas de campo con siembras que tienen el tipico azulejo decorando sus muros! desde aqui vamos a caminar aproximadamente 4km hasta llegar a los molinos!🚵🏻🌲
Windmills of Santiago dos velhos🍁🍍🌻
cAt this point we have already advanced more than 4km and we are almost halfway there. From here we are going to pass a waterfall and continue along the road to the swing. The mills left me a good experience because gmaps sent me along a private road and then I had I had to ask permission from a man named Victor who was so nice to me and allowed me to go through his property to photograph the mills, they are public so if you follow the road you don't need to go through Mr. Victor's property! As you can see, the municipal chamber restored them as mills from the early 19th century.🧭🌏👩🏫
a esta altura ya avanzamos mas de 4km y estamos casi a mitad de camino luego de aqui vamos a pasar a una cascada y seguiremos por la carretera al columpio, los molinos me dejaron una buena experiencia porque gmaps me envio por un camino privado y entonces tuve que pedir permiso a un senor llamado victor el cual fue tan agradable conmigo y permitio que pasara por su propiedad para fotografiar los molinos, son publicos asi que si sigues la carretera no necesitas pasar por la propiedad del sr victor! como puedes ver la camara municipal los restauro segun son molinos de principios del XIX.🚙
Santiago dos velhos waterfall🌍/Cascada Santiago dos velhos🚩
I think I had already visited this waterfall a couple of years ago but it was in winter, they recommended that I go see it in another season to see how the landscape changes at this time of the year, the water looks cleaner and blue and the waterfall has less water, I think this must be one of the main tourist attractions in Santiago dos Velhos, here I made a stop, ate, drank water and continued. I already had about 8km. The next stop is the swing and the most difficult route because it is always uphill! When we enter Carvalho we will have to reach the highest point where there is also a military fort!🚵🏻🌍
Creo que ya habia visitado esta cascada hace un par de anos pero fue en invierno, me recomendaron que pasara a verla en otra estacion para ver como cambia el paisaje a esta altura del ano, el agua luce mas limpia y azul y la cascada tiene menos agua, creo que esta debe ser uno de los principales sitios de interes turisticos de Santiago dos Velhos, aqui hice una parada comi bebi agua y continue ya tenia unos 8km la proxima parada es el columpio y el trayecto mas dificil porque es siempre subida! cuando entremos en Carvalho tendremos que llegar al punto mas alto donde tambien hay un fuerte militar!🧭🚩
Arriving at Carvalha🌍/Llegando a Carvalha🚩
Here we arrive at Carvalha which is a fairly small village surrounded by hills, quite natural and very visited for its military fort route called "ribas route", here some of the military forts that defended Portugal for several years from the Napoleonic invasion were built. We also go to the Carvalha viewpoint and the swing which for me is "brutal for its landscape" up there you can see all of Lisbon including the two bridges!🌍🌻
Aqui llegamos a Carvalha que es una aldea bastante pequena rodeada de colinas, bastante natural y muy visitada por su ruta de fuerte militares llamada "ruta ribas", aqui se construyeron algunos de los fuertes militares que defendieron Portugal por varios anos de la invasion napoleonica, tambien vamos al mirador de Carvalha y el columpio que para mi es "brutal por su paisaje" alla arriba consigues ver todo lisboa incluyendo los dos puentes!🧭🚵🏻
The first thing we come across when we climb the hill of approximately 400 meters is a viewpoint and the swing, here I spent some time admiring the landscape and taking some photos, the climb was somewhat tiring and I think it is the most complicated point of the trail, from here you have other trails you can do or just turn around and go back to the starting point! I warn you that the transportation system in Carvalha is a bit isolated, there are no subways, and buses are scarce, everyone here has vehicles!🌍🚩
Lo primero que nos topamos cuando subimos la colina de aproximadamente 400 metros es un mirador y el columpio, aqui estuve algun tiempo admirando el paisaje y tirando algunas fotos la subida fue algo cansativa y creo que es el punto mas complicado del sendero, desde aqui tienes otros senderos que puedes hacer o simplemente dar la vuelta y volver al punto de partida! te advierto que el sistema de transporte en Carvalha es un poco aislado no hay metros, y los autobuses son escasos aqui todos tienen vehiculos! 🍍🚙

Friends, my adventure ends here, in total I walked more than 15km or I would say 20km because I made detours, it was fantastic and they are one of those trails that I easily repeated at another time of the year like summer, I have one last surprise for you, it is one of the waterfalls most difficult to access within all my routes!🍀🌻
Amigos aqui acaba mi aventura, en total camine mas de 15km o diria que 20km porque hice desvios, fue fantastico y son de aquellos senderos que repetia facilmente a otra altura del ano como verano, te guarde una ultima sorpresa se trata de una de las cascadas mas dificiles para acceder dentro de todos mis recorridos! 🚩🌍
