Happy weekend, amazing people!

It has been a long busy week for me, but I am here for now peeking in for some travel stories. The other day, I was talking to a friend and we got to the point where we were talking about being patriotic and celebrating Independence Day. I am not sure how we got to the topic, but I just thought I'd share my recent experience with Independence Day.

My husband and I took a wonderful trip to Lake Mead, which is situated in the center of Las Vegas, on Independence Day - the 4th of July. My husband drove roughly an hour from the strip. The quickest and most convenient way to reach Lake Mead from the Las Vegas Strip is by car. A scenic drive that takes approximately 1 hour. You'll leave behind the bustling streets of Las Vegas and enter a world of natural beauty as you go along your way. Anyway, our visit was an opportunity to fully embrace the spirit of American Independence Day, rather than simply another holiday vacation. Excitement, relaxation, and a sense of unity filled the day, capturing the essence of this important day in American history.

We left Vegas strip early in the afternoon and the minute we got to Lake Mead, the sparkling surface of the water shimmered under the bright, golden rays of the sun. We saw people enjoying a wide range of outdoor activities when we first arrived. Families were taking pleasure in boat trips, swimmers were frolicking in the refreshing water, patient anglers were waiting for their catch, and hikers were exploring the surrounding terrain. The air was filled with celebratory joy and a passion for outdoor activities. We decided to have a simple picnic by the lake. As we spread our blanket under the shade of a tree, we couldn't help but mesmerized at the natural beauty surrounding us. The lake, with its clear blue water, served as a perfect backdrop for our lunch. The gentle breeze, the rustling leaves, and the distant laughter of children playing made our picnic feel like a scene straight out of a movie.

As we sat there, munching on our snacks, we took the time to observe and appreciate the diverse ways in which people were celebrating Independence Day. Some were hosting barbeques, the aroma of grilled food wafting through the air. Others were participating in patriotic ceremonies, their faces glowing with pride. There were also those who chose to spend the day in quiet reflection, soaking in the tranquility of the lake. When evening fell, Lake Mead transformed into a magical spectacle. The resort lights began to flicker on, casting a warm, inviting glow on the water. The reflection of these lights made the lake sparkle, creating a mesmerizing sight that was a feast for the eyes. As we sat there, hand in hand, we felt a profound sense of peace and contentment. As the sky darkened, the resorts lit up, their bright colors reflecting on the lake's surface. The sight was breathtaking, and we couldn't help but amaze at the beauty of it all as I always have.

Looking back, our Independence Day celebration at Lake Mead was more than just a day of road trip, travel, fun and festivities. It was a reminder of the freedom and liberties we enjoy, the unity that binds us as a nation, and the diverse ways in which we choose to celebrate this significant day. It was a day filled with cherished memories, laughter, and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of Lake Mead. Sharing this with a friend from the Philippines, I couldn't help but compare American Independence Day to Philippine Independence Day. Both holidays are marked by a sense of national pride, unity, and celebration. However, the ways in which these days are celebrated are as diverse as the countries themselves. In the end, simple moments like a picnic by Lake Mead or a meaningful conversation are what truly matter. Here's to more adventures, joyful moments, and meaningful experiences in the future.

Until out next road trip, my friends! Have a wonderful day!
