Valeggio castle in the heart of Lomellina

Hello everyone in this article I would like to tell you about a castle that I saw along the road a few months ago so I did a little research and took some photos that I hope you find interesting.

Traveling as I often told you for work I happen to find these places that unfortunately many of the times are abandoned the castle of Valeggio in my opinion is one of the most fascinating buildings that can be found around the city of Pavia.

Most likely this castle has evolved over time also because I have seen that there are some ancient stables that certainly could date back to 1400 and has an enlargement that took place later in the original structure.

I managed to enter but it seemed totally abandoned. It is certain that it was an important place because for a long time it hosted the great Pico della Mirandola and indeed someone speculates that this castle was built on a project by Leonardo Da Vinci but to tell the truth it is not there is no writing that testifies to this.

Doing several searches on the internet it seems that it is from a private individual and that it is used to carry out weddings and events but to me it seemed completely abandoned even victim of looting by some person, a real shame.

It is not easy to reach this castle that's why I leave you a map below to help you so that if you plan a visit you can find it because it is completely far from the inhabited centers and surrounded only by the rice fields or the corn fields of the area.

In fact, as you can see in this photo, nature is recovering its spaces, we hope it will be recovered as soon as possible.
