Hello to everyone in the Worldmappin community! Today I join the community to share with you what was my mom's visit to the city where I live, Puerto Ordaz. This is the second time my mom comes to visit us, because she is from Valencia (just like me) and due to mobility issues (transportation, time and resources) we had not been able to coincide since early January, so it was very satisfying to welcome her here in her second home and keep again some memorable memories. Join me.
My mom arrived last Thursday, July 11. What was going to be a short visit (because she could not be away from home much due to property care and personal matters) turned out to be a visit that lasted almost 15 days. This made me feel happy because we could see many other things that she could not see on the previous trip and also, it was a time that I needed with her because as I said before, my family is everything and here so far away I missed her very much. So we had the pleasure of touring some of her favorite things.
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Worldmappin! El día de hoy me uno a la comunidad para compartir con ustedes lo que fue la visita de mi mamá a la ciudad dónde vivo, Puerto Ordaz. Esta es la segunda vez que mi mamá viene a visitarnos a nosotros, pues ella es de Valencia (igual que yo) y por cuestiones de movilidad (transporte, tiempo y recursos) no habíamos podido coincidir desde principios de enero, por lo que fue muy satisfactorio recibirla aquí en su segundo hogar y guardar nuevamente algunos recuerdos memorables. Acompáñame.
Mi mamá llegó el pasado jueves 11 de Julio. Lo que iba a ser una visita breve (porque no podía ausentarse mucho de su casa por cuestiones también del cuido de la propiedad y sus asuntos personales) resultó en una visita que se alargó por casi unos 15 días. Lo que a mí me hizo sentir feliz porque podíamos ver muchas otras cosas que ella en el viaje anterior no pudo conocer y además, es un tiempo que necesitaba con ella pues cómo he dicho antes, mi familia lo es todo y yo acá tan lejos la extrañaba muchísimo. Así que nos dimos el gusto de recorrer algunas de sus cosas favoritas.
I have always thought that mom has a particular way of seeing things because she finds beauty and fascination in many things, which for me is something admirable that she has never lost that capacity for wonder. So she always tries to take pictures of everything that catches her attention: the tubes full of gumdrops, the giant stuffed animals, the artificial waterfall, etc. I try to keep up with her as she is even faster than me (a skill she acquired by being a lover of hiking), so there I would go after her trying to take the pictures.
Mama is also a very social person (she loves to be with people and share anecdotes) so on this trip we also focused a bit more on seeing family, relatives and friends, rather than sightseeing. In one of the pictures she is next to Daniel, an old family friend whom she had not seen for a long time and on this trip we were able to meet up with him. Finally, although the days in Puerto Ordaz have been quite changeable (heavy rains or intense sun), I think we made the most of those almost 15 days (hahaha). Siempre he pensado que mamá tiene una forma particular de ver las cosas pues ella encuentra belleza y fascinación en muchas cosas, lo cual para mí es algo admirable que nunca haya perdido esa capacidad de asombro. Por lo que siempre trata de tomar fotografías de todo aquello que llama su atención: los tubos llenos de gomitas dulces, los peluches gigantes, la cascada artificial, etc. Intento seguirle el paso pues ella es incluso más rápido que yo (habilidad que adquirió al ser una amante de las caminatas), así que ahí iba yo tras ella tratando de tomar las fotografías.
Mamá también es alguien muy social (le encanta estar con la gente y compartir anécdotas) por lo que en este viaje también nos centramos un poco más en ver a la familia, allegados y amigos, más que en el turismo. En una de las fotografías se encuentra junto a Daniel, un viejo amigo de la familia a quién tenia mucho tiempo sin ver y en este viaje pudimos coincidir con él. Finalmente, aunque los días en Puerto Ordaz han estado bastante cambiantes (lluvias intensas o sol intenso), creo que sacamos provechos esos casi 15 días (jajaja).
