Tour de Slovenia - Rogla Treetop Walkway

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Hello,

It has been a while since my last post from Tour de Slovenia series and it looks like some time will pass before next one will be created after today’s. There are more reasons for that. One is well known Covid-19, which caused closure of municipalities. So you are not allowed to leave your home town. That gives great possibility to o tour of my home city Ljubljana, but somehow I never find time to go in city alone with my camera and document interesting things to share them with you guys here on Hive. We will see, I might find time now, that I can not leave my city.
Second reason for break from Tour de Slovenia series is that I travel much much more during summer. Winter time doesn’t suit me that well. It is also hard due to weather conditions and much shorter daylight, especially if you have to take into account year and a half old kid and his needs.
As I am still at home waiting on work in tourism due to Covid and my wife is also working from home in this period it is a great opportunity to spend some family time together. Little boy is not going to kindergarten as they are closed due to same old reason – Covid. We are all enjoying time together at home and I am sure 2021 will bring us more possibilities to travel and do what we want and not what we need to do due to Covid pandemic.

After an intro with peak into my personal life I will return to my last trip I did this year. I already shared few details about The Tourist Farm Urška we stayed at and The Bistrica Gorge we visited. Now it is a time for last day of that beautiful early September’s weekend when we visited Rogla.

You have a lot to do on Rogla and I am sure you can confirm that if you have been there before. Rogla as the destination developed so much during last years that it became one of the leading destinations in region. From my young days I remember it as a ski resort, but now it offers a lot of activities during summer time as well. I wanted to do many on that day, but unfortunately it didn’t go as planned as my kid started to get ill. It was nothing special, just some type of cold with cough and runny nose. Still we didn’t want to risk and doing too much on that day as the weather was not favorable as well. It can be very windy up on the hill and without sun it was not summer feeling anymore. We decided to do only top attraction there, which is treetop walkway.
This is relatively new attraction as they opened it one year ago. It offers great views on the nearby mountains and the biggest highlight is forest view. Slovenia is one of the most forestry countries in Europe. When I was still visiting school I was learning that we are only behind Finland, but I don’t know if that is still the accurate fact, so please don’t hold me for my words.
Treetop walkway is exactly 1 kilometer long, so it is an easy trail to do if you are with the kids as well. It is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers as well. Max space gradient is just 6%. Trail is a round way, so it offers 360 degrees view on the surroundings at which viewing tower gives you help as well. On about two thirds of the way, you have 37 meters high viewing tower which offers one of the best views in Slovenia. Beside the beautiful views it also offer joy ride for kids (and adults) as there is a tube slide built which is a great addition to the whole package. One more detail that I know and I would add is that you are walking around 20 meters above ground all the time.
There is a lot of learning stations on the trail as well. Another nice addition are also adrenaline steps as they call them, where you have some ropes and skywalks built for the one not afraid of height.
Everything finish with money, right? Admission for adult is 10 EUR per person, children 8 EUR. There is a supplement for slide, one ride 2 EUR per person. I think that rates are fair for what they offer. Project is nice and entertaining for all, but also educational. We in Slovenia are really blessed with all the forest we have.

I enjoyed the day at Rogla, even though we only did one thing. As I often say, when I don’t do something as planned - that is only one more reason to come back. I will be back to Rogla soon again and you should consider visiting if you are planning a trip to Slovenia as well.

Thank you for reading and let’s go to photos. Not the best quality as they were taken with my smartphone, but hope nature will make up for that and makes them quality enough :)

I am glad you enjoyed the views.
That is the only treetop walk we have in Slovenia and I must admit it is a great addition.

This covid-19 has become a real pain in the butt well we might see some nice photos of your city now that will be interesting to see i love cityscape photos 👍

I am not that good at taking cityscape photos and usually I am focusing myself more towards nature, but still as I wrote that might change...

Being in nature is precious. I could not live in big city and not been able to do quick escape on the countryside.
