A view of the cabins | Una mirada a las cabañas

So far, I've shared some of the most beautiful places I've visited, and I've tried to cover different types of places because I appreciate diversity. I've told you about some of the mountains and national parks I've hiked, and I've shown you beaches and dunes, as well as urban environments like museums and theaters. Most of these have been places in Argentina or Chile, two of the most beautiful countries I've visited so far.

Hasta ahora les he compartido algunos de los lugares más lindos que he conocido y he intentado abarcar diferentes tipos de lugares porque me gusta la diversidad. Les he hablado de algunas montañas y parques nacionales en los que he hecho senderismo, les he mostrado playas, dunas, pero también ambientes urbanos como Museos y Teatros, y la mayoría han sido lugares de Argentina o Chile, dos de los países más hermosos que he conocido hasta ahora.

Welcome to Panguipulli

But while I was preparing this post I realized that until now I had not shared with you any of my lodgings and I think it's also necessary to highlight those places that host us temporarily while we travel to a new destination, so this time I want to talk about a Lodge where I stayed when I traveled to Panguipulli, a city in southern Chile. I have told you about this destination before, although not directly. I have mentioned the biological reserve of Huilo-Huilo (I have pending that review that I was just preparing when I decided to do this one) and I also mentioned my crossing of Lake Pirihueico and my visit to the ruins of the lodge in Puerto Pirihueico; Well, I visited these places while I was staying in Panguipulli at the beginning of December, which translated into a very pleasant weather (summer was about to begin) but also tranquility, because we were not yet in high season, which begins in mid-December and is accentuated in the months of January and February. As soon as you arrive in Panguipulli, near the bus terminal of this small town, you will see a sign that says “Welcome to Panguipulli: Paradise of Roses” and almost in all its streets you can see rose bushes growing on the sidewalks or in the gardens of the houses. There is a city ordinance that prohibits pulling them up and the locals are very proud to keep them and display them to visitors, which makes it very pleasant to walk around town. After walking for about 15 minutes I arrived at the place that would house me for 3 days: the Amukan Lodge. I leave you these pictures as an introduction:

Pero mientras preparaba este post me di cuenta de que hasta ahora no les había compartido nada de mis hospedajes y creo que también hay que destacar esos lugares que nos albergan temporalmente mientras recorremos un nuevo destino, así que en esta oportunidad les quiero hablar de un Lodge en el que me hospedé cuando recorrí Panguipulli, una ciudad al Sur de Chile. Ya les he hablado antes de este destino, aunque no directamente. He mencionado la reserva biológica de Huilo-Huilo (tengo pendiente esa reseña que justo preparaba cuando decidí hacer esta) y también mencioné mi cruce del Lago Pirihueico y mi visita a las Ruinas de la hostería en el Puerto Pirihueico; bien, esos lugares los conocí mientras me hospedaba en Panguipulli a inicios de un mes de diciembre lo que se tradujo en un clima muy agradable (el verano estaba por empezar) pero también tranquilidad, pues aún no estábamos en temporada alta, la cual comienza a mediados de diciembre y se acentúa en los meses de Enero y Febrero. Nada más llegar a Panguipulli, cerca del terminal de buses de esa pequeña ciudad, uno se topa con un aviso que dice "Bienvenido a Panguipulli: Paraíso de las Rosas" y casi en todas sus calles se pueden observar rosales crecer en las aceras o en los jardines de las casas. Existe una ordenanza municipal que prohíbe arrancarlas y los lugareños están muy orgullosos de conservarlas y exhibirlas ante los visitantes, lo que hace que sea muy agradable caminar por la ciudad. Después de caminar unos 15 minutos llegué al lugar que me albergaría durante 3 días: el Amukan Lodge. Les dejo estas fotos como introducción:

This is a perfectly sized lodge. Not too small and not too big. It has enough space for guests to maintain their comfort and a reasonable amount of cabins (four) that help them maintain privacy, but at the same time feel part of a nice, small group. Funny thing, on the days I was there, I was the only guest, so I had the entire lodge to myself.

Se trata de un Lodge de un tamaño perfecto. No muy pequeño ni muy grande. Tiene el espacio suficiente para que los huéspedes mantengan su comodidad y una cantidad razonable de cabañas (cuatro) que los ayudan a mantener la privacidad, pero a la vez a sentirse parte de un colectivo agradable y reducido. Cosa curiosa, en los días que estuve allí, fui el único huésped, así que tuve el Lodge entero para mí solo.

My cabin was the smallest, suitable for two people (although I traveled alone), and everything was provided in pairs: two chairs, two cups, two plates, two pillows, two sets of towels, two sets of sheets... I loved how immaculate both the Lodge and the cabin were in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail. It was a real temptation to stay there all day instead of exploring the places I wanted to visit, because the Lodge is a space that invites rest and relaxation. Since the terrain is uneven, all the cabins have views of Lake Panguipulli, and on a clear day, you can see the summit of the volcano of the same name on the horizon. I bought some food at a nearby supermarket and made a delicious dinner, which I enjoyed as dusk fell, gazing at the lake. It was a magical moment.

Mi cabaña era la más chica, capacitada para alojar a dos personas (aunque viajé solo) y todo se presentaba de a pares: dos sillas, dos tazas, dos platos, dos almohadas, dos juegos de toallas, dos juegos de sábanas... me encantó la forma en que tanto el Lodge como la cabaña estaban impecables en cuanto a limpieza y detalles. Fue una verdadera tentación quedarme allí durante todo el día, en vez de ir a conocer los lugares que quería recorrer, porque el Lodge es un espacio que invita al descanso y la relajación. Como el terreno está en desnivel, todas las cabañas tienen vista al lago Panguipulli y en un día despejado se puede ver en el horizonte la cima del volcán del mismo nombre. Compré algo de comida en un supermercado que había cerca y me preparé una deliciosa cena que disfruté mientras caía la tarde y contemplaba el lago. Fue un momento mágico.

Another thing I did, taking advantage of the comfort and solitude of the place, was to read. On that trip, in which I was going to spend a few days in Pucón and others in Panguipulli, I remember taking with me some books by Haruki Murakami and Patrick Modiano and I read some of them sitting on a bench, under the shade of a tree, overlooking the lake and the wind blowing on my face. In my opinion, that bench is the best spot in the whole Lodge. The days I stayed there were spent mainly outside, getting to know the city, the lake, the reserve, some nearby towns, but as spring was ending I could still enjoy some hours of natural light when I returned from my walks (the sun set around 9 pm) and even one day when I arrived a little hot - I am not a fan of beer or alcohol in general - I bought a local beer and drank it in that peaceful atmosphere. So my recommendation is that when you travel to Panguipulli you stay at this Lodge, one of the nicest I have ever seen in my life. Comfort, nature, rest, lake view, close to everything... what more can you ask for? Would you come to a place like this? I read you in the comments.

Best spot in the Lodge

Otra cosa que hice, aprovechando la comodidad y la soledad del lugar, fue leer. En ese viaje, en el cual iba a estar unos días en Pucón y otros en Panguipulli, recuerdo haber llevado conmigo algunos libros de Haruki Murakami y Patrick Modiano y leí un poco de ellos sentado en un banco, bajo la sombra de un árbol, con vista al lago y el viento rozando mi cara. En mi opinión, ese banco a la sombra es el mejor spot de todo el Lodge. Los días que me hospedé allí los pasé principalmente afuera, conociendo la ciudad, el lago, la reserva, algunos pueblitos cercanos, pero como ya estaba terminando la primavera aún podía disfrutar algunas horas de luz natural al volver de mis paseos (el sol se ocultaba alrededor de las 21 hrs) e incluso un día que llegué algo acalorado - yo que no soy fanático de la cerveza ni del alcohol en general - me compré una cerveza de la zona y me la tomé en ese ambiente tan pacífico. Así que mi recomendación es que cuando viajen a Panguipulli se alojen en este Lodge, uno de los más bonitos que he conocido en mi vida. Comodidad, naturaleza, descanso, vista al lago, cerca de todo... ¿qué más se puede pedir? ¿vendrían a un lugar como este? Los leo en los comentarios.
