Hello, dear Hivers around the world! I hope you are all fine and in good health always. Today I want to share with you the historic and beautiful plaza of Argao. I mentioned in my previous blog about my travel to Argao, Cebu last December 17-19. I had this travel, for it was the host municipality in the recent Division Festival of Talents 2023 of DepEd Cebu Province Division. We stayed there for 3 days. We went home on the 3rd day, which was December 19, 2023. So on that day at 6:00 a.m. while waiting for the coaster bus (the bus owned by the municipality of Tabogon) we agreed to visit and stroll the Plaza of Argao. This is not my first time visiting the place. I was there a long time ago when the municipality hosted the Cebu Provincial Meet. So my dear Hive friends in this blog, I will tour you in the Plaza of Argao.

As we approached the plaza we saw this eye-catching tag "Cabecera de Argao". This tells us that the town was full of history and Spanish influences. It's found near the plaza, side of the Hall of Justice. If it's your first time visiting this place, I'm sure you will not pass this area without taking a pose.

The municipality of Argao is known for its best Torta which has a tagline nagkadugay nagkalami since they have their unique ingredients that the people of Argao remain confidential. Near the Cabecera de Argao is a big replica of a Torta that resembles their town's specialty.

Since it's Christmas, the plaza is well decorated with lights, lanterns, a Christmas Tree, and a miniature House where Jesus was born. This decoration adds attraction to plaza-goers, especially during this yuletide season while strolling at night.

Within the plaza is the Community Well, which is the primary source of drinking water for all the people in town. Water on this well is free-flowing during high tide. It was strongly built made of stone and shaped like a hexagon. It is well-protected and safeguarded so that no one can go nearer to the Well.

Near the Community Well were the three old cannons. It features the Spanish to American regime. These were used by the town folks to defend the pueblo or their town from Moro Raiders.

Beside the cannon was the statue of Rizal. Every town Rizal's statue was built in recognition of his bravery and heroism in fighting against the colonizers through his writings. Every December 30, Rizal Day is celebrated throughout the Philippines.

This old Hall of Justice was built during the Spanish time and is located in front of the town plaza. These structures made the town full of history. This was preserved and cared for by the town folks for it will attract tourists.

This old and strongly built stone gateway is the entryway to the Saint Michael Church—one of the oldest churches here in the province.

This is the Saint Michael de Archangel Church. This church was strongly built made of stone and with many historical features inside.

Argao Plaza is also called the all-in-one plaza for me. Why? Because the plaza is surrounded by or between the various important structures in town. The old but still preserved Executive, Legislative, Tourism, the Old Municipal Hall, and the Church signifies what was the history of Argao. The all-in-one plaza is the indication that their old folks wanted to protect their town from invaders. The well-landscaped, clean, and safe plaza is suitable for children to play and walk around. A lot of chairs provided along the sides and corners allow the plaza goers to relax while listening to music during nighttime. These amazing and unique features of Argao Plaza were very remarkable and significant to all folks of Argao. So, visiting this beautiful place in the Southern part of Cebu is an opportunity.

I'm amazed how they were able to preserve those historical architectures like the old hall of justice. It's interesting that this kind of places is well preserved so that today's generation can still see and learn the history of that place.

That's true my friend. They are able to preserve those infrastructure and for sure its very durable.
