Hello Hive friends!
I want to tell you about one of the places that I think really makes your heart cool and your mind fresh, it's called Puncak Becici. For those of you who are looking for a vacation spot that is not only beautiful but also full of local cultural nuances...
PUNCAK BECICI
Puncak Becici is located in Bantul, Yogyakarta... and its location is on a hill with a vast pine forest. From below, it looks green and refreshing, but when you get to the top, wow... the vibes are so different!
Cool and Peaceful Atmosphere
As soon as you get off the vehicle and start entering the pine forest area, you are immediately greeted by cool air and the distinctive aroma of the trees. The path is neat, clean, and comfortable to walk on. It's perfect for those of you who want to heal, find inspiration, or just enjoy some alone time with a calm natural atmosphere.
Birds can sometimes be heard singing amidst the sound of the wind sweeping the pine leaves. It feels like the world is in slow motion for a moment, and we can breathe easier...
Traditional Music from a Mortar and Pest
Now, what makes this place even more unique is that there is a traditional music performance that uses instruments not from drums or guitars, but from a mortar and pestle! Yes, the mortar that our ancestors usually use to pound rice.
This musical instrument is played by a group, usually by local mothers. And the sound that comes out is very distinctive, a kind of "dug dug tak tak" rhythm that turns out to be really nice music to listen to.
What's even more exciting is that here we can request songs! They are very open if you want to hear a certain song — just give them a tip or money as much as you like. So besides enjoying the music, we can also help them get additional income. Fun and useful, right?
Photo Spots Everywhere
For those of you who like taking pictures, don't worry. At Puncak Becici, there are many Instagrammable photo spots that you can try. Starting from the observation post that directly faces the view of the hills and villages, a really cute tree house, a swing that is perfect for taking silhouette photos in the afternoon, to an art stage that is sometimes used for small performances.
If you come on weekends or holidays, sometimes there are also traditional dance performances or other local music on the stage. So the atmosphere is not only natural, but also cultural entertainment.
Friendly Local Residents
Another thing that makes me really feel at home here is that the local residents are super friendly. They don't hesitate to greet visitors, sometimes even inviting us to have casual chats. We can also get interesting stories about the history of this place, or information about the surrounding culture.
For me, interactions like this make a vacation more memorable. Not just coming, taking pictures, then going home. But also being able to learn and gain experience from local people.
View from Above That Makes You Forget to Go Home
The most awaited thing is definitely the view from the top! From up here, we can see the expanse of villages below with rice fields, small roads, and tiny houses that look very peaceful. If the weather is clear, you can also see Mount Merapi in the distance.
And don't miss the sunset moment at Puncak Becici. The golden light of the sky combines with the pine trees into a beautiful silhouette... and everything feels very romantic. It's perfect for ending the day with a sense of gratitude.
So, if you are in Jogja and want to experience a different vacation, try going to Puncak Becici... You can be one with nature, enjoy traditional music, take pictures, and chat with friendly locals. Very complete, right?
See you in the next travel story, okay~
