Bai Xoan - A Secret Beautiful Beach

As a nature lover and love to explore new lands, today I will take you to a secret beach in Xoan Peninsula, a rather remote area located between Da Nang and Hue.

Location

Located about 30km from Da Nang city center, Bai Xoan is a secret beach hidden behind the Xoan Peninsula. It is also the peninsula's only beach. Not only its location is far from the center, but the arduous and hard to find way to get here also makes it a very little known beach. Even for people who have been in Da Nang for many years, when I ask them where "Bai Xoan" is, they don't know.

The road to Bai Xoan

The journey to Bai Xoan can be divided into 4 different journeys.

The first journey is to drive from Da Nang city to Hoa Sua cafe located on Hai Van pass. This is also where we parked our motorbikes. This journey took us about 30 minutes. It was a very enjoyable journey thanks to the beautiful scenery on both sides of the road.

The second journey is trekking down from the parking lot to the beach. The trail leading down to the beach is quite rough with lots of rocks along the way. So you should wear suitable walking shoes. This journey is also very interesting with the surrounding trees and fresh air. In addition, we also crossed a train line. It took us about 20 minutes to complete this journey.

Many of us were quite tired after this journey.

The third journey is to go along the coast to come to Xoan Peninsula. This journey is easier on the golden sands stretching about 2km. This is also my favorite one because of the beautiful scenery with the majestic mountains on the left and the blue sea on the right. In addition, there is a small fishing village here, so we also discovered a lot of interesting things. We spent 30 minutes on this journey.

We even had to cross a small river along the way.

And the last journey is the way through the valley between Xoan Peninsula and Hai Van Pass to reach Bai Xoan hidden behind the peninsula. This path is basically a small trail in the thick forest and a nice lawn. This is the rainy season for us, so the trail is quite wet and muddy, which has brought us many difficulties and at the same time enjoyable experiences. After about 20 minutes of hiking in the forest, we finally reached our final destination, Bai Xoan.

What's there?

It is a long and wide sandy beach, the rest is a rocky beach. Behind this beach is Xoan Peninsula with lush green trees, and the sea water here is very clear and clean because it is less disturbed by humans. Unfortunately we couldn't swim there because the waves were quite strong the day we went there. However, going around discovering things is already super fun. We felt like we were on a deserted island and everything was very interesting. This is definitely a great place to camp because of its privacy. Surely you will not be disturbed when camping here.

We were very excited to find a small house, it appeared to be the residence of the border guards, but no one had been here for a long time. It became our wonderful temporary shelter in this desolate beach. We used it as a place to rest, and to store things. We had lunch and rested for a while in the cottage. It was wonderful to find such a wonderful getaway after a long and exhausting hike for some of us.

Then I made some coffee to keep everyone awake and energized to go exploring. It must be said that there is nothing better than a cup of coffee in nature, especially at a beautiful beach like this. I also found some sea pineapple while walking around looking for firewood to make coffee. A lot of us got to try sea pineapple for the first time. Have you tried it yet? Try it when you have a chance, its taste is also very interesting.

What could be better than having a cup of coffee at a beautiful beach like this.

After drinking coffee and eating sea pineapple, we went around to discover this beautiful beach. Even my dogs enjoyed this beach very much. They play on the sand and with the waves. They seemed to be very excited about chasing the seagulls on the beach, but they weren't fast enough to catch any. They even followed us to explore the rocky beach and got wet because of the big waves. We caught some snails on the rocks to grill afterwards.

We found some delicious sea snails.

We enjoyed the beach so much that none of us wanted to return. But in the end we had to say goodbye to this beautiful beach because we did not bring camping equipment and enough food. I will definitely come back here one day soon. Because we enjoyed our time at the beach so much, we stayed longer than expected and returned quite late. We even had to hike up the mountain to the parking lot in the dark. Except for me, no one on my team today has done this before. As I mentioned before in this post, the trail was rough, so some of us fell a few times. But it's okay we all enjoyed the trip very much.
