Kon Vong Kia - A hidden village of Mo Nam ethnic minority

Hi dear Hivers, today I would like to take you to a hidden village which is located about 5km from Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province. Kon Vong Kia is home to the Mo Nam ethnic minority, an ethnic group distributed mainly in the Kon Tum region and the Northern Central Highlands ò Vietnam. They live mainly on agriculture and tend to live separate from the outside world. So they often reside in small villages, located far from crowded areas. And Kong Vong Kia is not an exception.

Regarding geographical location, Kon Vong Kia has a basin terrain. Terraced fields and the gentle Dak Bla river lie in the middle and surrounded by pine hills. And there is only one road leading into the village from Highway 24, going from Kon Tum province to Quang Ngai province.

Small wooden houses hidden in the mountains and forests are not only a place of residence but also a symbol of the villagers' culture, tradition, and love for nature. Their beauty does not lie in splendor and splendor but in simplicity, rusticity and harmony with nature. The main structure of these houses is often made from wood, a popular material in tropical forests, which not only brings a cozy feeling, but also shows respect and closeness to nature. The house is often surrounded by gardens, rice fields, vegetable gardens, cattle and poultry barns, demonstrating a close relationship with land and agriculture.

The harmonious combination between housing and surrounding nature not only brings a beautiful landscape but also reflects the Mo Nam people's lifestyle of attachment and dependence on nature. Inside, the living space of a wooden house is often spacious and airy with little use of partitions, creating ventilation and closeness between family members. Furniture in the house is made from wood, bamboo, etc., rustic but extremely delicate and highly meaningful. In particular, there is a fireplace, which is considered the soul of the house, placed in the middle of the house.

The life of the Mo Nam people in Kon Vong Kia village is associated with farming and animal husbandry, where each day passes simply but impressively. They live in small wooden or bamboo houses scattered on hillsides or forest edges, creating a peaceful and rustic countryside picture. Life here seems to slow down, people live close and in harmony with nature, making life interesting and meaningful.

Farming, especially growing wet rice on terraced fields or food crops such as corn, potatoes, cassava, and other vegetables, is their main job. The terraced fields winding along the hillside not only provide food for the family but also create a charming, unique scene for the high mountains. Every passing season, from planting to harvesting, all contain the effort and enthusiasm of the people here.

Animal husbandry is also an important part of the life of the Mo Nam people. Livestock such as buffaloes and cows are not only valuable assets but also indispensable companions in farming work. In addition, raising pigs, chickens, ducks... also makes an important contribution to ensuring food sources and generating income for the family. Their lives are closely linked to nature, all daily activities depend on changes in crops and weather.

A special thing in the lives of ethnic minorities is the closeness and mutual support in the community. When there is a big job like building a house, planting or harvesting, everyone in the village comes to help each other, creating a united, loving group. Traditional festivals and rituals are also opportunities for people to meet, interact, and share life and work experiences.
