Ljubljana, the green and clean capital of Slovenia

Traveling calmly, enjoying the surroundings at every step is what we want because sometimes we are in a hurry, seeing everything we want to see in a compulsive and stressful way, in places that are already full of noise, people and many places around to visit.

Let's travel consciously enjoying the trip. And on this trip we arrived by train through green meadows to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

Already in the station itself we realize some things: on the one hand that everything is written "different" that is obvious and interesting and on the other that everything is clean and calm. This city definitely worth a visit.

And in the city itself we realize that everything is still green, we arrive seeing the beautiful nature of the country and we see that there is also green in the urban space. Everything looks prettier, more alive while at the same time everything is calm.

Because it's a quiet city, and as I said, it's clean and there's no rush or a lot of people crowding around the streets. It seems that the river is the backbone of everything, natural waters of the river that give even more peace while we walk through its cobbled streets. Until it gets dark because then all the bars and restaurants, their terraces located on the banks of the river come to life, they are filled with people, lights and vibrant joy.

There, in the river area, logically the bridges stand out, especially a bridge (Zmajski Most) marked with a great symbol for the city itself, Dragons, some large and impressive sculptures, there in front of us, and also behind us.

There are more bridges including a triple bridge with the weight of history that takes us to Prešeren square, the quintessential square presided over by a beautiful, beautiful pink church. On its façade it puts something of "Hail Mary, full of grace (gratia plena)" I still know the easy words in Latin… the Church of the Annunciation.

There are many churches, that also calls our attention, one more thing. All without great pretensions but stand out for their sober but flirtatious beauty. An architecture in harmony with the place itself. For example, the Cathedral of San Nicolas or the Church of San Jaime, the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista and more that we are missing...

But there is more, there is a large municipal market and some days they put up stalls in the open air where the citizens buy fresh products, again everything seems in harmony. Lucky to be able to arrive on time and see all the stalls and more movement.

We continue walking and discovering more emblematic places, of course its Town Hall, with its flags and a peculiar and striking façade or also the old building of the University of Ljubljana.

But another construction on top of the hill draws our attention more, a historical place that we cannot ignore, the Ljubjiana castle.

So we walk the entire steep path until we reach the place, its imposing walls and an open interior where, by surprise, we find more people here, simply sitting, having a drink, enjoying the fresh air, the moment and the views. From here looking up from the wall we can see everything from a bird's eye view almost...

And we have something to comment on, during our visit we found various buildings, all with attractive and beautiful facades from different periods, but other "alternatives" stood out in other neighborhoods such as Metelkova Mesto, from a more recent period but also made us travel to those times. from communist Yugoslavia, another era and other colors. Extravagant and certainly alternative designs, which have been able to adapt to the changing world and also find their place in this friendly, elegant, cultured, clean, green, calm and happy city.

A delicious, interesting and discreet place, perfect to enjoy every moment without rushing, without crowds, without excesses. In a small and comfortable space we can simply discover an European capital of green natural beauty in a harmonious combination with the passage of time and the royal and religious history and beautiful facades and architecture. All perfectly delightful.
