A beautiful day spent amidst the streets and peaceful views of Ajmer city

Greetings of the day,

The previous day had brought a different kind of fragrance for us. The morning time was very calm and relaxing. We were preparing to go out with the family. The intention was to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some moments for myself, my memories and with my loved ones. As soon as the first rays of the sun started giving the sky a light golden color, we all set out towards Lake Pichola.

The path to the lake always attracts the mind. The glitter of water spread far and wide, the slight coolness in the air and the old buildings nearby – everything together makes it seem as if it is a part of an old tale. In the morning the surface of the lake's water looks absolutely clear, as if someone has spread a mirror. The boats were swinging slowly and their light sounds were adding a different silence to the atmosphere. Some people were strolling, some were busy taking photos and some were just silently looking at the water, lost in their thoughts.

We stayed there for some time and kept feeling the beauty of the lake. The cool breeze and the calm surrounding completely refreshed the mind. Children were playing on the banks of the lake and adults were enjoying the atmosphere in their own way. When I felt that my heart was full, I decided to move ahead. Gradually the day started increasing and the heat of the sun also started increasing. Meanwhile, we decided that now we should move towards Ajmer.

The weather was very beautiful on the way. The sky was slightly clear, clouds were floating at some places and the air was absolutely lovely. Traveling with family is a different kind of fun. Songs were playing, children were talking cheerfully and we all were enjoying the journey while looking at the views along the way. The navigation guided us very easily throughout the route. The roads were smooth, the turns were clearly visible and the directions were so simple that the journey proceeded without any hindrance.

In the afternoon, when the sunlight was spreading lightly on the roads, we decided to stop for a while and have lunch. Had a light meal at some nearby place and then from the conversations of the women in the family, it came to light that he was very fond of shopping. Well, then what – we set out towards the market.

The beauty of the markets of Ajmer is always different. The streets here are filled with colorful clothes, bright dupattas, embroidered dresses and bangles. Every shop was decorated with different types of clothes – somewhere traditional Rajasthani clothes, somewhere full of modern designs.

We reached a shop where only clothes were visible all around – so much variety of colors that it became difficult to know which one to choose and which one to leave. The women were looking at different clothes with great interest. Some liked the lehengas, some liked the workmanship of the dupattas. The shopkeeper was also opening each cloth and showing it with great love. There was so much crowd inside the shop that movement was visible everywhere, but there was a different warmth in that crowd too. Perhaps this is the beauty of these places – feeling a sense of belonging even amidst the crowd.

Some time was spent in shopping and after everyone had liked a lot of clothes, we started walking towards our next destination – the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Rahmatullah Alaih.

As soon as you enter the streets of Ajmer, the atmosphere starts changing its color. A strange spiritual peace is present in the air. The roads become narrower, but despite the crowd, a different energy is felt in them. People come from different places—some with prayers, some with thanks, some with hope and some with tears.

It was afternoon and the layers of clouds in the sky were beginning to darken. Clouds were seen moving with the light breeze, which made the atmosphere even more pleasant. As soon as we reached right in front of the Dargah, a large crowd of people was seen. The huge white colored dome was visible from a distance and its shine was heart touching.

We slowly moved forward through the crowd. The servants standing at the door were very politely showing the way to the people inside. As soon as one reaches inside, a different kind of coolness descends in the heart. The beauty of the place, the bedsheets, the fragrance of flowers, the voices of people praying – all together create such an atmosphere that the mind automatically bows down.

We also offered sheets and flowers from our side. Sat and prayed for some time, just spent some time silently there. This place connects the hearts of people—whether rich or poor, small or big, everyone is seen standing equal here. Evening was beginning to set and the color of the sky was beginning to change. When it was night time, the lights of the Dargah filled the entire atmosphere with a golden glow. The lights fixed on the white dome were shining far and wide. It seemed as if a small star had descended from the sky and stopped here.

The beauty of the Dargah is different at night. The atmosphere full of light, the illuminated streets, the light breeze and the movement of people… everything together creates a feeling which is difficult to describe in words. While returning, my heart was full - with the views, with the prayers and also with the experiences of the journey. In one day, the peace of the lake, the beauty of the roads, the splendor of the market and the spiritual fragrance of the Dargah - everything was combined in such a way that this trip got recorded in our memories forever.

Sometimes a day becomes so beautiful that even while living it, one feels that perhaps this moment will remain the sweetest in memories. Yesterday was exactly like this for us - full of peace, happiness, belongingness and blessings.
