I've Found My New Favorite Beach | Southern Bounty Beach

BURGERS BROUGHT US HERE

We've reached the end game (for now; I returned to the island a few weeks after this trip). This is the last part of my summer trip to Malapascua Island (Cebu). Our first day was packed with many activities and so for our second day, we wanted to chill and relax.

Before we enjoyed the sunset on the first day, we went for an afternoon snack. We saw a burger stand and decided to have burgers and siopao. My girlfriend asked the lady who sold the burgers where the good beaches were located on the island. She told us to go to Bounty Beach which was in the southern part of the island. She was a local and we trusted her word.

On our second day, we used Google Maps to help us navigate. Bounty Beach was indeed on the southern part of the island. We walked from our resort and there was this small road that passed through several resorts. We passed by some expensive-looking ones.

The area felt like the main tourist destination with its long stretch of white sand beaches, restaurants facing the sea, cottages, lounge chairs, and well-tended tropical plants. However, we noticed that some of the resorts weren't open. This was the effect of the pandemic. I could imagine the stretch of the beach to be full of people milling around before COVID-19 hit the world.

AN IMPRESSIVE DISCOVERY

Google Maps told us that Bounty Beach was almost at the end of the southern beaches. I could've settled with the beaches that we passed by because they all looked impressive. We walked further and we passed by more resorts until we arrived at Dano Beach Resort.

This was it. Google Maps told us we were in Bounty Beach. It was a good thing we didn't stop and kept going because the place was even better than the ones we passed by. The shore was wider and bigger. It reminded me of Kota Beach in Santa Fe, Bantayan.

There were a few Talisay trees that offered shared. The summer sun was shining full blast and went under the shade while reapplying our sunscreen. I wanted to have a tan but I didn't want skin-peeling sunburns.

SECLUDED AND PEACEFUL

What really impressed me about the beach was that there was hardly anyone on it. There were only a few people but we practically had the beach to ourselves.

We went into the water and it was so clear! The bottom was still fine sand and there were no rocks at all. It was my ideal beach! The water level was also deep enough that you could go for a decent swim. There was a boat anchored near the shore, and my girlfriend and I decided to swim towards it.

I mentioned in my Island Hopping post that I recently had a traumatic experience when I almost drowned. Going on this trip greatly helped me overcome that trauma. Swimming towards the boat reminded me that there was nothing to fear. I still knew how to swim.

We stayed in the water quite long and we noticed that the current was pulling us westward. The tide was growing and with it the strength of the current. If we stayed stationary, the current was strong enough to pull us a few meters away. We had to walk or swim back to our original spot because we didn't want to be away from our things we left by the shore.

A NEW FAVORITE!

The tide was really high, the current strong, and we were tired and hungry. We rested under the shade of the Talisay tree which the water had already reached. We didn't have any plans for our second day. We just wanted to relax. Our trip was only two days and I would've wanted us to extend but we still had work the next day.

The island hopping experience was fun but in my summer travels, I always look forward to sitting by a peaceful beach and just looking at the sea. It's during these times that I'm able to appreciate the place more.

We just rested under the tree and laid down on the sand with the waves hitting our bodies. We were thinking about where to have our lunch. There were a few restaurants that we passed by but we didn't want to spend a lot on food. We decided to go to their market to look for a place that offered inexpensive food.

I'LL SURELY RETURN

Back from our lunch, we spent the remaining of our time on the island in Bounty Beach. There was a beach resort near and again, it was Dano Beach Resort. We asked someone from the resort how much the rooms were and we found out that they weren't that expensive. If I was to return and have a nice beach in front of the resort, I would book the place (which I did during my next visit).

We spent a great deal taking pictures of the beach and each other. I still had my long hair then and I looked like I belonged on an island. I'm just showing a few photos because I'm thinking of sharing some of them on Liketu. I've been meaning to check out Liketu and see if posting on that front-end will work for me. I used to spend so much time choosing and editing my photos for my Instagram page and I stopped doing it after doing a digital decluttering. I didn't see any value in spending my time and putting my content there.

SEE YOU AGAIN, MALAPASCUA!

We returned to our resort, took a bath, and checked out. There was still a long trip ahead of us and we had to make it to the port in time for our boat. We arrived just in time and only a few tourists were with us. We returned to the mainland in high spirits, tanned skins, and smiling faces. Malapascua Island was now one of my favorite destinations in Cebu.

That's it! This travel series has finally ended. I never thought I'd be able to write so much about this trip but I think it deserved its lengthy feature because of how impressed I was with the place. As mentioned, I returned to the island and the experience was still good. I'll write about that second trip in the future.

I'll be sharing my trips to the mountains, this time, in my next posts. Be on the lookout for that. See you around. Cheers!

What really impressed me about the beach was that there was hardly anyone on it.

Which made your time on the beach all the more fun! You really had a good time on the Southern Bounty beach and these pictures are just lovely. I particularly like the one you took while in the water. It really brings out the green-blue colour of the water.

Malapascua Island boasts of more than one beach? Nice! 😊

The color of the water is so lovely, right? It reminds me of water in the pool.

The island has different beaches scattered around. I think the north and the south beaches are the ones people flock to.

I saw that first picture of both a clear sky and clear blue water and then looked out of my window only to see rain and grey clouds, haha.

Those are some beautiful views though, looks like such a peaceful place.

Sad to hear about it. But I'm sure you'll have your sunny days and time at the beach. 😁 Rainy days can make us more grateful for the sun and being dry outside.

I continue to enjoy your trip, previously I really wanted to visit beautiful tourist spots like the ones here, you and your girlfriend always miss happy moments, you are very compatible with this beautiful girl @glecerioberto 🥰👌

Thanks! We're so lucky to have beautiful beaches on our island. My girlfriend and I are always excited to travel to new destinations and share happy moments together. 😊

Hope you marry that beautiful girl in the near future, my friend! 🥰

Wow that's beautiful friend. The beach there is so clean.

There weren't a lot of people and I think the locals in the area clean the beach every day that's why it looks so clean. Things remain beautiful if people take care of them especially nature. 😁

I could've settled with the beaches that we passed by because they all looked impressive.

They really look impressive - few days here would relax all the stress from mind.

Yung ng sarap lang mag muni muni, pakinggan ang alon ng dagat, ramdam ang buhangin sa talampakan. No wonder my kid has been bugging me to bring her to the beach. Our next trip for sure will be on a beach and hopefully we find something as quiet and as beautiful as Bounty beach around here in Luzon.

Malapit na naman ang summer, mommy Rome! I'm sure you'll find a good beach to relax and for your kid to have fun. 😁

The beach is very beautiful, the water is very clear, the three coconut trees make it even more beautiful 😉

I like that shot with the three coconut trees, as well! It makes me feel like I was in a tropical paradise. 😁

It is seen that it is a beautiful landscape, very good posting and work, congratulations!
