An instant shelter and a getaway - Catmon, Cebu

Some of the few enemies being a motorbike driver on the road are stray cats and dogs, rough roads or under repair, heat and dust, and rain.

It was a typical day when we decided to go on a road trip. The weather was gloomy and about to rain, but we geared up and set off anyway. Keep reading! I'll tell you what happened.

Aya Beach Resort

Aya Beach Resort is one of the most accessible beach resorts going to the north of the province of Cebu. It is located in the municipality of Catmon. It does not have much of a wide space, but good enough to cater to a hundred people for gatherings, events, and celebrations.

How to get there?

If you go by bus or private vehicle, pick the bus with a route bound for northern Cebu. Then tell the driver to drop you off at AYA Beach Resort or just navigate the Waze or map. It will take two hours to travel. If you saw these signages, you got to the right place!

So, What really happened?

We began our ride, and the rain was coming down hard. We could barely see anything before us, and the rain was hitting our helmet's visor, making it harder to see. The roads were wet and slippery, so we had to be extra careful. We slowed down and kept a safe distance from other vehicles.

Then, We saw some motorists stop and shelter in this small store.

The rain came down harder. I could feel the water soaking through my clothes. So I asked the lady inside if we could go in. We also bought some snacks while waiting for the rain to stop.

Behind the shelter was tranquility

The sound of the rain was a piece of music to my ears. After minutes of playing the waiting game, the rain slowed down. However, my curiosity did not stop me from asking about the details of the resort behind the store. To my surprise, the lady humbly offered me a free tour of the resort.

Even though it was still drizzling, I excitedly went inside the resort. The lush greenery swimming pool and gorgeous ocean views were still breathtaking, even in the rain.

Entrance Area

Upon entering, you could see a small hut for registration. What I loved the most in this resort were the colors. It was refreshing to the eyes.

Posted in the small hut are the prices and other details. They also have life preservers for rent for kids at a very affordable price. Don't forget to read the rules and reminders posted on their fences. Once you are done in this area, you are good to go.

Function Hall

If you are looking for a place for a birthday party, team outings, and celebrations, you can have it here. The furniture is made of wood which added to the class and elegance of the hall.

Pool

Looking at these people enjoying the warmth and coolness of the pool brought by the rain, I wanted to soak myself in and swim. The pool was quite long and divided by its small bridge, the shallow part is for the kids and the deep part is for the adults.

The management has also posted reminders when using the pool. The safety of the customers is the utmost priority.

Cottages

They also got plenty number of cottages for guests. They were made of bamboo wood that looked extra luxurious.

Amenities

If you have read my previous blogs, you would how particular I am to these amenities when going to a resort. I got an unforgettable story about it. So, I always look for these.

For Filipinos, a karaoke section is a plus to a gathering. It is noted that we love singing and dancing. It costs five pesos for every song.

Moreover, They also have a grilling station if you plan to cook your food. Just make sure that you bring your charcoal and utensils. On the other hand, They have enough comfort rooms for the guests.

The place impressed me. I spent some time strolling along the shore, taking in the beauty of the resort in the face of the rain.

As the day continued, the rain slowed down, and I was grateful for the humble accommodation the resort had provided. Despite the rain, the pool and beach resort exceeded my expectations. The experience was a reminder for me that even in less-than-ideal weather conditions, there is still beauty to be found, and it's all about how you approach it.
