Despite the calamity, nature's beauty emerges

All the pictures were taken in year 2021, when we visited the place, Mambukal Hot Spring Resort is currently close due to the persistent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

Today I am writing about a hidden hot spring in Negros Occidental, Mid Region of the Philippines, it is a natural hot spring, coming from the foot of the tallest Volcano/ Mountain in our Region, called Mt. Kanlaon. The water has sulfuric acid and they claim that, it can cure skin diseases, ease rheumatoid or arthritis and so on, my Mother really wanted to go and visit the place, since she reached the age of 60's her ankles and legs would always hurt, and she is also not a fan of medicine, which is good, unless she can still tolerate the pain, she won't drink any pain relievers, so we went there, early in the morning, we chose to visit the place on a Weekday, which is Monday, to avoid the weekend crowd, (I don't think it is nice to dip in the hot spring with too many people in it 😅) when we arrived, there are tour guides who offer their services, Mambukal Resort has accomodations too, by the way, if ever you want to spend the night with the nature, also, you can do a trekking, so having a tour guide is highly suggested, unless you want to get lost in the middle of the forest,plus you can ask them to take pictures, they are great photographers too ☺️😁

We encountered a lot of people who wants to trek the seven waterfalls of Mambukal,I actually wanted to, too, but we are with my Mom, and so we chose not to do it, we only managed to visit until the 2nd waterfall and the famous lake

Our tour guide said, in the previous years, people are actually allowed to swim in the river and the falls, however the debris of rocks started to fall, and a lot of accidents involving some irresponsible tourist using the falls as a cliff diving spot, so the management of the resort decided to prohibit people from swimming in there except for the Hot Spring area.

I'm sad we weren't able to see all the seven waterfalls, and there's no chance to visit it anytime soon, since the Kanlaon Volcano has been erupting since December 2024.

The last part of the Trek supposedly is the Hot spring, but because we did not really finish it, we just returned, the tour guide said it takes around 2- 3 hours to finish the trek, because the 7th Waterfall is actually an hour away from the sixth Waterfall, and that you have to ride motorcycle to reach there.

This place reminds us that despite the force of Nature (which is the Volcanic Eruption) nature never fails to amaze us and gives us something to enjoy and to look forward to after the catastrophe, I just hope the Volcano would calm down, so the people around could go back to their normal lives and livelihoods, especially the tour guides, and so tourists and people can get to enjoy it again.
