Visiting public parks are one of the ways to have a nice stroll while learning about the place or the culture. Often times there are activities where you could just join as well, or have a picnic, or watch them do Zumbas.
A little search on some tourist areas in Bangkok and I found out about Lumphini Park. It's a bigass park in the middle of central Bangkok. Looking at the photographs I got excited to see how peaceful it is and how there are so many trees and benches around.
The pictures didn't lie. The place is really peaceful. The wind was nice and even though it's literally in the middle of the busy city, it wasn't that warm since there are so many trees around.
There's also a big lake in the middle of the park. It's man-made according to my research. They had some duck-boats you could rent for the lake but we didn't see any when we went there. I guess they closed it off for now because of COVID.
Imagine just how peaceful it is to sit there tho.
There were a lot of crows and pigeons.
I thought it says you're not allowed to go in there and be sprinkled with water, but apparently it says you're not allowed if you don't have mask. So I guess you can get yourself wet if you have a mask.:D
What shocked us was this GIANT monitor lizard just randomly appeared out of nowhere. It was my first time seeing this big lol. I got a bit scared cos what if it chases us for whatever reason hahah but considering the crow was literally right next to it, it may not be a threat after all.
This big guy right here was probably 4ft or so. Apparently they're not harmful to humans but like any other animals, will probably defend themselves when threatened. And yeah, the locals there weren't surprised at all. Haha.
Even the crow didn't give a shit. T_T
There's a gym for anyone who wants to workout.
The sun was a bit harsh cos we went there at 3pm. There were also not many visitors that time but I guess the busiest time is at 5pm onwards when everyone gets out from work. :D
These lizards are everywhere! Probably not a good idea to lay down beside the lake if you don't want to see some random lizards walking towards you. :D Although I assume these lizards are used to humans. We even saw a giant one walking towards some locals and all they did was laugh. XD
Here's some guy taking a video/photo of the swimming lizard. :D
We wished there were more activities and vendors (you know like cotton candies, ice cream or whatever) but it was understandable considering they also just reopened their borders to vaccinated tourists. In the next couple of months would be fun for sure.
It was a nice walk regardless. :D

I probably counted about 5 people when I zoomed in on the pictures. It's a beautiful lonely place. What caught up was the greenness of the water, considering the fact that it was actually man-made. Looks really natural and all. I guess this monitor is harmless and it was actually brought into the park and groomed, I can't tell completely. It's a place to find peace and tranquility though, while reflecting on one's life. Once again, the Fuji does a great job.
I didn't take pictures of joggers or any other people as I was too shy to do it, but yeah it was quiet. The park is also really big, the people were also spread out haha. Perfect place to reflect tho cos just right outside everything's busy.
Wow, a quiet place in the middle of a busy place. It's because the park is really big that's why external noise wasn't heard inside. Oh and I didn't know there were joggers. I also didn't see a place for food
Yeah I read somewhere that there were actually some food places inside but they are closed now for some reason.
Very beautiful this park, it seems that there is also a lot of shade, ideal for a walk in the summer.

I'm glad you saw the lizards . We have loads around where I live and they often just walk across the road! Not something you see everyday back in cold, wet England :-)
It’s hard not to see them in this park, they’re everywhere🤣 I’m beginning to think they’re starting to have a population problem again, just like in 2016. Haha yeah I figured you’re used to it, are they that big as well?
They are that big. What's funny is when a piece of wetland is being cleared to build on and they send some blokes in a pick-up to catch them and rehome them. Three blokes lizard wrestling in mud with nets and Gaffa tape while the thing goes crazy and tries to bite their limbs off is a sight to behold lol
Hahah yeah would be fun to watch, I wouldn’t dare do that job myself🤣🤣

This surely looks like a perfect place to get away with the city's hustling bustling life. But one needs to be careful while being near at the lizard.
Yeah. Although I have noticed they don't get that close to humans. :D
It looks quiet and suitable for a very good walk.
I think the crow will get out of reach easier than you.
True, I can't fly 😂 + panicking will get me to fall face flat on the floor. lol. I can hear the crows mocking me already
This reminds me of a similar lake from my country located in the middle of the city, except having such big buildings and wild animals lol.
I love seeing a oasis of silence in the center of a little chaos with all the traffic noise tho 😁
Wild animals roam in the middle of the city? Quite interesting haha although not sure if I'd want to meet a wild animal closely. XD
Yeah you would love this place!
It's not your fault but your pictures would be perfect if not for the powerlines. I can't wait for the day when each building collects its own energy and we don't need these eyesores anymore. It will also be a great way to free ourselves from governmental and corporate control. You grouped the photos together nicely.
True! I can't wait as well + any way we could reduce the energy consumption and something that will be good for the environment as well. Thank you!
Wow, you had a nice visit dear
You've got a nice park over there...the environment looks cool and serene, you took a nice shots as well
