In Search of Foliage!!

Dear friends of this splendid community of travelers,

Today, I wish to share my experience from yesterday as it was a special day. I made the decision to organize a hike in the company of my dear friends in a charming natural area located approximately 200 kilometers from my residence. We found ourselves in another region of Italy, specifically along the trail of the great trees, a hiking path that winds through the majestic Vicentine Prealps. This enchanting route led us among centuries-old trees of various species, including majestic beeches, ash trees, and mighty firs, creating an extraordinary atmosphere capable of captivating even the most skeptical travelers, and certainly capturing my heart.

This trail is particularly popular, especially in the autumn when the colors of the trees undergo a surprising transformation. This year, it was particularly challenging to pinpoint the ideal time due to the unusual weather fluctuations; just a month ago, we had temperatures of 30 degrees, and suddenly we dropped to 10 degrees. Nevertheless, I tried to capture some shots to share with you, hoping that you'll appreciate them because I had a particularly enjoyable time.

I appreciate this hike because it is suitable for hikers of every level, presents no significant elevation changes, and is enriched by informative panels along the route that unveil the secrets of the trees and the surrounding environment, things that I found very helpful. However, it's in the autumn that this trail reveals its best beauty, thanks to the colors of the foliage that transform it into a magical place. The only misfortune we encountered was the sudden worsening of the weather conditions in the afternoon, as is also evident in the photos.

Walking on this trail doesn't just mean strolling among the trees, but it's also a journey through time. Along the path, you can discover ancient mountain huts, witnesses to the historical importance of these mountains in pastoral activities, and maybe some still in use, as well as some trenches that draw attention to the tragic wartime events of the past that occurred here.

A particularly thrilling moment was the encounter with a young deer among the majestic centuries-old beech trees, a true spectacle of the region's wildlife. Unfortunately, I was a bit slow in capturing the image of this fascinating encounter.

In conclusion, this trail is much more than a simple walk among the trees. It's a journey that allows us to discover the secrets of nature and history, immersing ourselves in the past traditions of mountain huts and reflecting on the tragic consequences of war, as evidenced by the ancient trenches. It was a significant and beautiful experience for me.
