Sky of blue and orange hues against mountain silhouettes,
Sea of calm and clear water beckons serenity,
Sand of white and fine grain leaves traces of your feet,
Sunsets are but moments of hope and peace.
I rarely do poems let alone a verse but this place and sunset deserves a few words of admiration from me.
Masasa Beach in Marikaban Island, Batangas is yet another jewel I found while I was still staying in Manila. A memorable escapade for me and my coworkers. I was actually happy with this trip. I get to just chill and let my friends do all the necessary planning. If it was here in Cebu, the task of planning and organizing always ends up with me.
To get there, we rode a bus from metro manila going to Anilao Talaga Port which took us about 4 hours. From the port, we rode a passenger boat which was much cheaper compared to renting one. We also managed to buy some supplies from the nearest public market. When going to a not-so-popular island, there are fewer supplies there compared in the main land so its better to buy food or other stuffs before reaching your island of destination.
It took us another 30 minutes to reach the place and we immediately headed directly to the transient house my friend rented for us. There was no time to delay because we wanted to make the most of our stay here. We quickly cooked our meals for the day. And yes, I cook. After we had our meal, I had a quick nap and the boys went for some drinks and karaoke.
They got drunk so we went to the beach to freshen them up. It was a 10 minute walk to the beach front where we were welcome with this amazing fine white sand stretched a couple of meters before hitting the gentle rolling waves of the sea. The place doesn't have much stalls or tables and chairs so we found ourselves a spot near a small tree.
The place isn't crowded too which I really love so I can focus more of being at peace with nature. There were a few foreign tourist but most were locals.
While waiting for the sunset, we enjoyed ourselves to the cool waters of this beach. My drunk friend did enjoy his time, releasing his inner child.
As the sun began to set, we sat on the sand and just admired the changing colors of the sky. It was just amazing. This time I took my Fuji camera and tried to capture the very reason why we choose MASASA. The sunset didn't fail me.
SUNSET ON THE FIRST DAY
SUNSET ON THE SECOND DAY
Yes, I too can't get enough of the beautiful sunsets I witnessed from this place. Besides that, this place was all about stillness and peace. My overthinking mind gone calm during my stay here. I was able to connect with nature and ground myself again.
One may also opt to visit other places in the island by renting out a boat which we did the next day. However, I wasn't able to take some photos for safety purposes of phones and camera.
We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and it was definitely amazing! Make sure to bring along awesome friends as well.
On our last day, I woke up so early around 5:00am. My friends was still asleep so I decided to hit the beach one last time. And oh boy, I felt like I had the place all to my place. So walk with me...
I was happy that the raw beauty of this island was still being preserved. If you want a relax, isolated beach then MASASA is the place for you. I don't know with you but if given the chance, I'd definitely come back here.
