Downtown Cebu is known as the oldest place here in Cebu City, evident by the looks of the buildings. I've been here a lot for as long as I can remember since my school is situated somewhere near the downtown. We also buy our fresh produce in their night market. So downtown feels like a second home. But I guess there's so much more to this place that I haven't visited yet. Or maybe these old buildings were just repainted and decorated to make it look anew.
I believe this is an old abandoned building that they make use of as a parking lot. It make sense since it's near the Cathedral and Basilica Minor del Sto Nino Church. It's also near a food park so converting it as a parking space could really help the people.
Below is the building of Sugbo Chinese Heritage Museum. Although I never tried entering the place, they're mostly open at night or at a certain time of the year.
This museum is right across the Sto Nino Church too. In the morning, this place look so different. Maybe it's how great lightings work.
This is the Cebu City Hall.
Inside the Sto Nino grounds lies the famous Magellan's Cross. Historians believed that Lapu-Lapu, one of the famous local leader, died in this spot fighting against the Spaniards.
Discovering this area in the downtown feels like I'm transported into a foreign place. Maybe Europe? Or perhaps, Spain. The architecture is a fusion of modern & ancient, playing with lightings while preserving the ancient design of the building. Kudos to the Architect and Designers of the building for creating great initiatives.
Next time I visit this place, I make sure to try their local food market.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
With love,
Jane
The first building looks so cute, like it is some gift wrapped and with a ribbon, lol. There's a lot of pretty buildings in there. The City Hall is so big, ilang floor yarn.
Soon, I will go to Cebu to ♥️
Hope you enjoy your stay :)
Wow! Since we are very far from Cebu City, I love to read your blog, at least I know how the buildings are at night time.
Thank youu! I just share a glimpse of the city base on my own perspective :)
It's been decades since I last visited Magellan's Cross but when I was in high school I always pass by this historical place on my way home from school.
Well, it has been thesame ever since. Theyve maintained it well :)
