I used to pass by these not-too-high waterfalls every day when I went to work. The place changed over the years, but this waterfall sustains and feeds the whole village.
Hello @worldmappin, hello everyone.
As we passed by this waterfall this afternoon, when I went home after work, I noticed how this place had changed over time. A few years ago, you could not see any occupants along this waterfall, but nowadays, a few are already settling along the road, beside the waterfall, and have their water brake business, small coffee stalls, and the like.
Took these photos a few years ago, when this place was still quiet and serene, where you could only hear the water splashes.
This is Pasingkalan Waterfall, nested in Barangay Pasingkalan, Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur. This waterfall is just beside the provincial road where anyone passing here could have a head turn and could steal anybody's attention with its amazing beauty.
This is not a high waterfall, as I look at it, I guess it just just about 12 meters high, yet the water splash could be heard even if you are inside your car. And the clear white water resembles milk being poured. It is indeed beautiful. I witnessed many times when passersby had to stop here and take their poses and snaps.
The most amazing thing about this waterfall is that it gives sustainability to rice farming in this area. The whole barangay and its neighboring places benefited from the water coming from the Pasingkalan Waterfall. The municipality made an initiative to maximize the use of the waterfall and build an elevated water supply tank-type irrigation system across the rice fields, and during drought, the farmers have a sustainable water supply.
The rice fields that are given enough water through that elevated bridge-like cement (it is where the water flows and is distributed to the fields).
I heard stories like this waterfall is not actually a waterfall coming from springs of watersheds, but instead it is coming from a river nearby from a hinterland, and part of the water from that river finds its way to flow down to this place. Whatever it is, the important thing is that this waterfall feeds the people in this village and offers a breathtaking view to locals and passersby.
This is how it looks today, a bit sad scene, yet a second thought came to my mind, at least these people have their daily living from this place.
As a final thought, Pasingkalan Waterfall captivates passersby with its striking beauty and milky-white cascading water. Though only around 12 meters high, its powerful splash and scenic charm draw visitors who often stop for photos. Beyond its visual appeal, the waterfall plays a vital role in sustaining local rice farming through a municipal irrigation system that ensures water supply even during droughts.
I asked my partner to stop for a while beside the road, and I took snaps of this amazing, soul-refreshing beauty of Pasingkalan Waterfall. Upon looking at the rice fields below the road, I was more amazed at how important this waterfall is to people in this area.
This is all I could share with you today. Have a great day and God Bless You.
With love,
