Getting to know Medellin City, Colombia

Greetings to all Hive's travel and adventure lovers! Today I want to walk the streets of Medellin again through this photo gallery. I remember that we did this walking tour on a Sunday, we were looking for the Institute for the Development of Antioquia, where our companions would sing at nightfall, but there were few days in the city, so we went the long way to take advantage of seeing the beauties that Colombia had to show us, especially me who was the only one who traveled just for fun, since my wife and the others had the stress of the singing competition.

¡Un saludo para todos los amantes de los viajes y las aventuras de Hive!. Hoy quiero volver a recorrer las calles de Medellín a través de esta galería fotográfica. Recuerdo que este paseo a pie lo hicimos un día Domingo, estábamos buscando el Instituto para el Desarrollo de Antioquía, donde nuestros compañeros cantarían al caer la noche, pero eran pocos días en la ciudad, así que nos fuimos por el camino largo para aprovechar de ver las bellezas que Colombia tenía para mostrarnos, especialmente a mí que era el único que viajó solo por diversión, ya que mi esposa y los demás tenían la tensión de la competencia de canto.

Those who follow me on Hive know that I only know two other nations besides my country Venezuela, those are Spain and sister Colombia, and of the latter I only knew this city in Antioquia. My country has a lot of natural and architectural beauty, but there is something very special in these other places I have visited that makes me notice the progress of the people. Medellin is a lot like Caracas, with rivers, surrounded by mountains and a bit cooler, although not so cool when I met it in August, but for a South American country I found it a charming metropolis, very clean and organized.

Quienes me sigue en Hive saben que solo conozco otras dos naciones además de mi país Venezuela, esas son España y la hermana Colombia, y de esta última solo conocí esta ciudad en Antioquia. Mi país tiene mucha belleza natural y arquitectónica, pero hay algo muy especial en estos otros lugares que he visitado y que me hace notar el progreso de los pueblos. Medellín se parece mucho a Caracas, con ríos, rodeada de montañas y un poco más fresca, aunque no tan fresca cuando la conocí en Agosto, pero para ser un país de Sudamérica me pareció una metrópolis encantadora, muy limpia y organizada.

I was not in Medellin long enough to draw certain conclusions, but in general it seemed to me a very big city, and I did not know big parks like in Caracas as well as there are in the east or west. I think the areas to connect more with nature are towards the mountains, and yet vegetation is present everywhere. I remember that one of the most picturesque places we met was Pueblito Paisa, and the best place where I could connect with nature those days.

No estuve el suficiente tiempo en Medellín como para sacar ciertas conclusiones, pero en general me pareció una ciudad muy grande, y no conocí grandes parques como en Caracas así como los hay en el este o el oeste. Creo que las zonas para conectar más con la naturaleza se encuentran hacia las montañas, y aún así la vegetación está presente en todas partes. Recuerdo que uno de los lugares más pintorescos que conocimos fue Pueblito Paisa, y el mejor sitio donde pude conectar con la naturaleza esos días.

I am really enjoying traveling and seeing places on foot, especially when everything around me is so pleasant. The center of Medellin impressed me a lot, especially the sculptures, the cathedrals and the tall buildings. It is definitely an ideal place to live in South America today. I also loved the train system and it is perfect for such a big city where going from north to south represents many hours of traffic due to the amount of people and cars.

Me está gustando mucho el viajar y conocer los lugares caminando, especialmente cuando todo a mi alrededor es tan grato. El centro de Medellín me impresionó mucho, especialmente por las esculturas, las catedrales y los altos edificios. Definitivamente es un lugar ideal para vivir en Sudamérica en la actualidad. El sistema de trenes también me encantó y es perfecto para una ciudad tan grande donde recorrerla de norte a sur representa muchas horas de tráfico por la cantidad de personas y automóviles.

I am not very good at trying to communicate in English, in Spain I survived a couple of conversations in La Alhambra, but with much excitement in Medellin I only found people who spoke Spanish, and they also knew a lot about Venezuelan issues, as I did about Colombian issues, and I definitely felt the connection of two brother countries with the people I interacted with, in fact they are very attentive with tourists, instead in Spain I made several people laugh, especially with how slow I worked with the Euros, but they did not treat me badly either. The point is that traveling to Spanish speaking places as long as it remains the only language I am fluent in is ideal for me.

No soy muy bueno intentando comunicarme en inglés, en España sobreviví a un par de conversaciones en La Alhambra, pero con mucha emoción en Medellín solo encontré a personas que hablaban español, y además conocían mucho de temas venezolanos, así como yo de temas colombianos, y definitivamente sentí la conexión de dos países hermanos con las personas con quien interactué, de hecho son muy atentos con los turistas, en cambio en España hice reír a varias personas, especialmente con lo lento que yo trabajaba con los Euros, pero tampoco me trataron mal. El punto es que viajar a lugares de habla hispana mientras siga siendo el único idioma que domino es ideal para mí.

All these pictures are from three places I visited that Sunday afternoon, some are from downtown Medellin, around the IDEA, others are from El Poblado, near the Santafé Shopping Center and others are from Sabaneta, an ideal area to go for a walk and spend a special time. Every corner of the city is beautiful and recommended to go for a walk, there is always a work of art, a shopping mall or buildings of great visual impact. Would I visit Medellin again, of course I would, I still do not know the capital of Colombia, Bogota, but this is a special city, well called the Eternal Spring ❤️

Todas estas fotografías son de tres lugares que recorrí esa tarde de Domingo, algunas son del centro de Medellín, en los alrededores de las IDEA, otras son de El Poblado, cerca del Centro Comercial Santafé y otras son de Sabaneta, una zona ideal para salir a caminar y pasar un rato especial. Cada rincón de la ciudad es hermoso y recomendable para salir a caminar, siempre hay una obra de arte, un centro comercial o edificios de gran impacto visual. ¿Volvería a visitar Medellín?, por supuesto que sí, aún no conozco la capital de Colombia, Bogotá, pero esta es una ciudad especial, bien llamada la Eterna Primavera ❤️
