My Trip Advisor Travel Map & Homemade Map

in Worldmappinlast year

Hi Everyone,

As you are all aware, I love to travel, immerse myself in different cultures and especially try all the different foods there are to offer. I recently went back to my parents and found my travel map still on the wall. This map is very big, the corkboard it's mounted on could barely fit in the car when I bought it but I have placed pins in the map showing every city I have been to.

I love documenting my travels, I do reviews on Trip Advisor, but not only that I am always updating my Travel Map. Did you know Trip Advisor had a travel map where you can state where you have been and it'll put a 'pin' in your virtual map. A unique way, I would say, that I personally document my travels is I collect thimbles, pins, pressed pennies (this is mainly in the USA but I've seen the UK have started doing them) and Starbucks mugs. I'll show you all my collections in later posts as I have collected so much along the way.

My Trip Advisor travel map is currently showing that I have travelled 29% of the world which equates to 300,859 miles travelled! That is a lot of miles but I am definitely hoping this year I can add a few more pins into my virtual and actual map.

I am now debating whether I make a map for my children so I can document everywhere they have been to so far, as they have travelled a fair few miles already. At the moment I do purchase a postcard for them both, no matter how many times we have been, and I write the date, who went and a little brief summary of what we did. It's just not the same as showing a map.

Is there anything you collect or do to document your travels?

Until next time, stay tuned.

Btw, for January I thought about making a new topic - Collection of mugs 🧐 and what a coincidence, @kathrynkw has a collection of them! When we get back, I definitely have to make that call with my humble mug collection 🍺

Oh I love a good mug collection! I still have a full cupboard of mugs I hardly use!

Here is my humble collection and the invitation to all who would like to participate in the initiative 😇

I would be glad to see all of your mugs! 🥂

Yes I do! I'm sure they'll love reading about the travels they've been on with us.

Yes I do have a few collections to show.

amazing! missing South America now haha

Yes I am! I've always wanted to go to South America. It's a place I really need to explore.

Check South and northeast, run from Rio 😂

I really want to go to Rio and see Christ the Redeemer. Is it a bad idea?

I was just kidding, it's an amazing city, but required a good guide.

Rio is the most famous, but it's dangerous as a big city is. But you will find amazing views and beaches and will be very welcome by us Brazilians

Impressive

Thank you. Hopefully more pins this year.

Wow, you have visited many places in the world, hopefully this year your trip can be even more extraordinary

I'm hoping so! I wonder if I can make it over 30% of the world by the end of the year.
