The Walled City of Intramuros Manila: A Travel Back in Time

in Pinmapple2 years ago (edited)

Hello, hivers! Ever get sick and tired of the chaotic city noise, the endless traffic, and all that stuff? Looking for some remarkable place that will take you back in time? If you get to visit Manila, there's this one historical site that is quite popular with tourists. I and my sister decided to visit this place one Sunday. There was an entrance fee of 75 pesos, and a discounted fee for students and senior citizens, so you will only get to pay 50 pesos.

This time around, let's all have a nostalgic glimpse from hundreds of years ago because I will take you down memory lane as we embark on a journey back in time. My friends welcome to Intramuros, Manila. It is also called "The Walled City" because it used to be a fortress of the Spaniards during the Spanish era. To truly experience the era, as you stroll around the place, you will see that even the security guards are dressed in "Guardia Civil" uniform.

Here, you can get to ride the kalesa, a horse-drawn carriage, which is seen pretty rare nowadays. Due to the advancement of technology, this way of transportation has slowly gone obsolete as the years go by. And it's good to know that the city of Manila has preserved it well for people, to still enjoy and experience up to this day.

As we stroll around the place, every step was like walking towards the portal of that door that widely opens into that long time ago. It is amazing and impressive how they have well-preserved these Spanish structures. The old buildings in every corner are the perfect example of giving the word "beautiful ruins" justice.

There were only a few people during that time that we were there so the tranquility helped us wander back in time smoothly. Keeping us more in touch with history.

Also found within the vast walls of Intramuros, are these centuries-old fortifications that speechlessly speaks about a lot of history, the Baluate De San Diego. It is branded as the National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines. Be amazed by enjoying the Spanish-era structures in this modern time.

Fort Santiago. It was labeled as the National Historic Landmark in 1951. It is Intramuros' one of the most popular attractions with tourists. Of course, as they say, if there is no picture, then it did not happen. So I automatically grab the camera and let my sister strike a pose while there were no photo bombers around.

I and my sister sure made the most out of our so-called "siblings date" because we were able to find the perfect spots for Instagram-worthy pictures. Every corner is a beautiful journey down memory lane because the old structures touched the place with nostalgia, speaking the history for themselves.

It's good to know that our government is doing its best efforts to let its centuries-old look be retained. They also have museums here that showcase antiques and artifacts during the Spanish era, as well as the life and everything we need to know about Jose Rizal, our country's national hero, letting the young generation these days to take a closer glimpse on our country's rich history. I hope they can still manage in putting their best foot forward to preserve this place for the future generation to enjoy.

One, two, three! Smileeeeeee! And that's it. A selfie with my sister snapped us back to reality, the present time, which ended that amazing ride in our historical and nostalgic journey back in time. And that Sunday stroll with my sister has left an indelible impression that is written in each other's history book, worth remembering.

That's all again for now my friends. I hope you all have a great day as you wander back in time with me. Thank you for dropping by.

Gusto ko talaga yung mga historical tours.. You can learn more about the country, and if you blog about it, people from other countries and even fellow countrymen will learn more about it.
