My Memories of Budapest Trip

in Pinmapple11 months ago

Hello friends. I continue to share my memories of Budapest with you. This time I want to share my experiences that include tourist attractions and recommended routes. The variety of places to visit in Budapest as a tourist and that I definitely want to show you has impressed me. What comes to your mind when you think of Hungary? Goulash, langos, palinka, wines, thermal baths... Yes they're all there. Today I want to invite you to explore the city of Budapest.

Budapest the capital and largest city of Hungary is located on both sides of the Danube River. Budapest the ninth most populous city in Europe has an impressive and fascinating history. It has a wonderful continental climate with dry and sunny weather which covers 80% of Hungary. On the days I planned to take photos that 20% cloudy sky thing happened.

Our route in Budapest started from Buda. Budapest is actually made up of two parts. Buda is located on the right west bank while Pest is on the left bank. Budapest emerged as a result of the merger of these two cities. Of course the Buda side has a calmer atmosphere. There are more private houses and fewer clubs, restaurants and party venues here but it has an equally fascinating history.

Our first stop was the Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest. This place is an architectural marvel that can be seen in the photos, postcards, paintings and social media posts of all tourists visiting Budapest. This fairytale like structure is located on the Castle Hill in Buda aspart of the Buda Castle complex. It also covers the northern tip of Gellert Hill. This place is currently one of the main tourist attractions in the city and used to be located near the walls that once protected the royal palace. Since there used to be a fish market here the modern bastion is still called Fisherman's Bastion.

The idea of building an architectural complex behind the nearby St. Matthias Church emerged when the Hungarian architect Frigyes Schulek began restoration work on the church. That's why this place, called Fisherman's Bastion was born. I visited St. Matthias Church the largest Catholic church in Budapest and wandered inside to take photos for you. I strongly recommend experiencing the beauty of this place in person. It is possible to visit this church with an affordable ticket fee of only 7 dollars and it is definitely worth it. There is a impressive atmosphere around the church and the awareness while being inside gives you goosebumps. The first church built on this site was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. After visiting the church I recommend taking a walk in the castle.

The Hungarian Parliament Building has a magnificent panoramic view. It also has a beautiful terrace and a café that serves delicious meals. So I definitely recommend you to experience this.

The program of the first day ended and we started walking towards the Pest side. Our tour program included walking on Váci Street visiting the Dohány Street Synagogue, having cocktails at a bar with a great view, shopping and of course discovering the Hungarian Parliament Building.Let me tell you about each of them in order.

First let's talk about St. Stephen's Basilica one of the most important tourist attractions in Budapest. This is not only a magnificent Catholic church but also a venue for concerts and houses a fantastic observation deck. I recommend not only visiting the church but also going up to the observation deck. At first I did not realize there was an elevator but later I found out. Luckily I had the opportunity to experience this exciting journey by climbing the stairs for you. You can draw a complete circle around the church and see the city from above. Seeing the city from a height adds a different dimension to the experience. Seeing familiar places like this is really an interesting experience.

Budapest is one of the rare centers in Europe when it comes to entertainment and nightlife and it has a well deserved reputation. Many music festivals are held in the summer, and there are plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs to satisfy the desires of tourists and locals alike.

After the basilica we completed our walk towards the parliament. But I must say I have never seen anything like this before do you agree? Just look at it what an extraordinary structure. The Parliament building represents the highest representative of the legislative body and is the place where the national assembly convenes. This architectural masterpiece was designed by Rastrelli in the last century. Unfortunately the designer of the project passed away just 5 weeks before the opening ceremony but he left behind a really fairytale like work. Like a song like a postcard, it is really extraordinary beauty. All of this is located on the banks of the Danube River. If you have time I recommend checking the tour hours and entering to see this beauty.

On our second day we completed our Budapest trip by walking along the riverbank. During this walk we probably encountered Budapest's most poignant monument. The Holocaust Memorial located about 300 meters away from the parliament building. At any time you will see many sensitive people coming there leaving flowers, contemplating, perhaps feeling a little sad, maybe coming to remember their families or loved ones. Along the Danube River there is a shoe sculpture made up of real iron shoes arranged as if a group of people decided to take off their shoes at the same time and walk barefoot. It is one of the most poignant monuments in the world.

I can say that Budapest is a city that can really inspire you. Even in the routes I already knew, I discovered many new things, made many discoveries that I didn't even realize and this shows that Budapest is a city that will surprise you. I think the capital of Hungary definitely deserves your interest.
