Argentina - Walking through the Río Tercero Reservoir in Córdoba with a luxury guide: our dog from every trip. / Paseando por Embalse Río Tercero en Córdoba con un guía de lujo: nuestro perro de cada viaje. 😃❤️

During my last vacation with my dad, we decided to base ourselves in the city of Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Córdoba. I wasn't familiar with this part of the province, but it was a great way to visit other nearby destinations by public transportation. Since the bus station was very close, we were able to take advantage of this service to visit some of the nearby towns. One of the places on our list was Embalse, a town neither my dad nor I had been to, but which we discovered together with a new friend ❤️.

Durante mi últimas vacaciones con mi papá tomamos la decisión de hacer base en la ciudad de Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Córdoba. Yo no conocía este lugar de la provincia, pero fue estratégico a la hora de visitar otros lugares cercanos en transporte público. Como teníamos muy cerca la estación de omnibus, pudimos aprovechar este servicio para visitar algunas de las localidades cercanas a nosotros. Una de ellas en nuestra lista era Embalse, una que ni mi papá ni yo conocíamos pero que descubrimos juntos y con un nuevo integrante en nuestro día ❤️.

One of the first things we did as soon as we arrived in Córdoba was find out about public bus services. There were several places to visit, and since we had about 10 days to explore, we had enough time to visit a few of them. In the previous days, we had headed north to the Villa General Belgrano area, where we explored several interesting spots and even did some trekking. Then it was time to head a little further south, to the Embalse area.

Una de las primeras cosas que hicimos ni bien llegamos a Córdoba fue averiguar sobre el servicio público de colectivos. Habían varios lugares para ir a visitar, y como teníamos unos 10 días de paseo, el tiempo era suficiente como para ir a visitar algunos de ellos. En los días anteriores habíamos ido para el norte hacia la zona de Villa General Belgrano, en donde exploramos unos cuantos puntos interesantes y hasta hicimos algo de trekking. Luego fue tiempo de movernos un poco hacia el sur, precisamente a la zona de Embalse.

With a trip of less than an hour and 25 km, we were able to reach this place that neither my father nor I had ever been to. The city called Embalse's main attraction is that it houses the largest reservoir in the province of Córdoba. This province is known for its numerous dams, but until now I hadn't had the opportunity to visit the largest of them all. It looked great, with part of its coast converted into a summer beach. This reservoir is formed at the interruption of the Tercero River, hence its full name.

Con un viaje de menos de una hora y 25 km recorridos, pudimos llegar hasta este lugar que ni mi papá ni yo conocíamos. La ciudad llamada Embalse tiene como principal atractivo el albergar el embalse más grande de la provincia de Córdoba. De por sí, esta provincia se caracteriza por su gran cantidad de diques, pero hasta el momento yo no había tenido la oportunidad de visitar el más grande de todos. Se veía muy bien, con parte de su costa acondicionada como playa para veraneo. Este embalse está formado en la interrupción del Río Tercero, por lo que de ahí obtiene su nombre completo.

We had arrived in Embalse very early in the morning, as usual, but this time we didn't have a clear plan for what to do. To get our bearings, we went to the tourist office to ask for directions, and there they recommended we go up to a small mountain called Cerro Pistarini, from where we would have a good view of the reservoir. They also told us we would come across the Embalse Tourist Unit, although at the time we didn't quite understand what it was about. The truth is that as soon as we left the office, a dog immediately joined us on our impromptu journey.

Habíamos llegado a Embalse muy temprano en la mañana, como siempre, pero esta vez no teníamos un plan definido sobre qué hacer exactamente. Para orientarnos un poco, fuimos hasta la oficina de turismo para pedir indicaciones, y ahí fue que nos recomendaron ir hasta una pequeña montaña llamada Cerro Pistarini, desde donde tendriamos una buena vista del Embalse. También nos dijeron que nos cruzaríamos con la Unidad Turística de Embalse, aunque en ese momento no entendímos muy bien de qué se trataba. Lo cierto es que ni bien salimos de la oficina, un perro inmediatamente se unió a nuestra travesía improvisada.

From the tourist office, my dad, the dog, and I walked three kilometers until we found a trail that allowed us to approach the reservoir from another angle. Since I started traveling far and wide, there's always a dog that joins me on my hikes. I love meeting dogs who enjoy walks because they always brighten up the day a little. At times, this dog knew exactly where we were going, because he'd go ahead of us but never lose sight of us.

Desde la oficina de turismo, mi papá, el perro y yo caminamos uno tres kilómetros hasta encontrar un sendero que nos permitió acercarnos al embalse desde otro ángulo. Desde que empecé a viajar por todas partes, nunca falta el perro que se une a las caminatas que hago. Me encanta encontrarme con perros que disfruten los paseos, porque siempre terminan alegrando un poco el día. Por momentos este perro sabía exactamente a donde íbamos, porque se adelantaba en nuestro camino pero sin perdernos de vista.

Ultimately, that day our improvised plans ended up being even more improvised, because we never made it to the hill, but at least we saw a little more of the reservoir. The day was accompanied by beautiful weather, as well as a very special canine companion. I always like to discover new places and leave our plans for the day a little to chance. One way or another, we always end up doing something great, and my dad already knows that sooner or later, a dog is going to join us on our walk 😂.

Finalmente, ese día nuestros planes improvisados terminaron siendo aún más improvisados, porque nunca llegamos al cerro, pero al menos vimos un poco más del embalse. El día nos acompañó con un hermoso clima, además de un acompañante perruno muy especial. Siempre me gusta descubrir lugares nuevos y dejar un poco a la suerte nuestro plan del día. De alguna forma u otra, siempre terminamos haciendo algo genial, y mi papá ya sabe que tarde o temprano, un perro se va a unir a nuestro paseo 😂.
