Using time machine to visit Nam Du Island!

in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

Hello Hive Community! This time I will tell you about my very first trip to discover the beauty of nature. After a long time of learning and working pressure, this could be considered as the trip to help me realize how beautiful Mother nature is. For that reason, I bring you back to 8 years ago, to an island located in a special place - the Gulf of Thailand, Nam Du archipelago.

Nam Du is the biggest island in the Nam Du archipelago. It is a small sea area covered by these countries: Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Campuchia. Due to the speciality of its location, this sea area is less waver and less saltier than other sea areas. That is the reason why the water color is greenish - totally different from the sea on the East Sea. The people here earn the living by aquaculture and fishing.
Follow me on the journey to discover this new interesting island.
Firstly, the vehicle. Starting from Ho Chi Minh City, it’s around 240km from HCM city to Rach Gia district, Kien Giang province. As my friends and I had got an 8 to 5 job, so the weekend was chosen for our trip. We took the bus from the West bus station in HCM city around 10pm Friday, spent 8-hour sleep on the bus, and when we woke up, Rach Gia - Kien Giang was in front of our eyes at around 6am the next day. You can have a light breakfast here, with the affordable price from 15,000vnd to 20,000vnd (~1 USD), you have some options for breakfast like “cơm tấm”, “hủ tiếu” or “bánh canh”... all are made from rice powder. From Rach Gia, you can take the speedboat to reach this island. Remember that you just need to have a slight breakfast for your stomach's sake if you are prone to seasickness.

After 1 hour on the speedboat, we reached the biggest island of these islands. We rented a small boat to commute from the biggest island to another small one called “Hòn Lớn”. This is considered as the most beautiful beach in the Nam Du archipelago. With the coconut trees along the beach, there were some trees aged 70-80 years old. There was a small tent which was covered by coconut leaves in the middle of the tree. How lonely it was when you saw the full photo of it. What would you do if only you were alive on this island? Nobody knows hah.

When the boat docked near the sand, some of us could not help but jump into the water to feel how cool and fresh it was. We spent most of the afternoon playing under the water. There were no big waves as usual at another beach in the Gulf of Thailand. Thanks to that, diving and discovering the colorful coral were the most attractive activities. After playing with the water, we came up, sat on the sand and watched the sunset fall down on the horizon line.

At night, we made a small fire to warm up the air and cook together. BBQ, especially seafood, was our best option. The freshness of the flesh, how sweet each bite, it still made my mouth water everytime I recall those moments. And nothing better than sitting around with your friend and singing together some idiots songs in the middle of the night, under the light of a thousand stars who were staring at us.

On the second day, we went back to the biggest island and visited around it. I don’t remember too much about the details, I just put some photos for you to take a look back at that time with me. I need to send a big thanks to my friend. These photos were taken by him who also joined the trip with me, he already allowed me to use his photos for this blog.

And the last words, I feel so happy that I had a chance to visit this place when there were less people who knew about it. The wild and beautiful nature here always brings me a feeling that I can not forget. Hope you enjoy these beautiful sigh-seeing with me and thank you for reading. Hope you have a nice trip with me!

What a beautiful place the Nam Du archipelago is! And how well you detail the place and its location as well as mentioning the costs of meals which surprised me because of the value you mention there of 1 USD. It is a place that looks amazing surrounded by lots of nature and unique landscapes. Great post and very nice pictures ❤️
