The Secret Market Maeklong Station, also known as the "Train Market", is a very popular tourist destination in Thailand. The market is located near Maeklong Railway Station in Amphawa District in Samut Songkhram Province.
We visited the market on a sunny day on December 9, 2022. When we arrived, we were impressed by the variety of stalls that stretched along the tracks. There was everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to fish, spices, dried fruits, clothing and handicrafts.
Der Secret Market Maeklong Station, auch bekannt als der "Zugmarkt", ist ein sehr beliebtes Touristenziel in Thailand. Der Markt befindet sich in der Nähe der Maeklong Railway Station im Amphawa District in der Provinz Samut Songkhram.
Wir besuchten den Markt an einem sonnigen Tag am 9. Dezember 2022. Als wir ankamen, waren wir beeindruckt von der Vielzahl an Ständen, die sich entlang der Gleise erstreckten. Es gab alles von frischem Obst und Gemüse über Fisch, Gewürze und Trockenfrüchte bis hin zu Kleidung und Kunsthandwerk.
As we strolled through the market, we noticed that all the vendors and customers were preparing for a signal. Suddenly, a siren sounded and all the vendors rushed to pack up their stalls and move out of the way. We were confused until we saw the train slowly moving through the market.
It was incredible to be up close and personal as the train passed through the market. The vendors and customers seemed used to it and kept completely quiet as the train passed. As soon as the train passed, the vendors immediately started setting up their stalls again and selling their goods.
Während wir durch den Markt schlenderten, bemerkten wir, dass alle Verkäufer und Kunden sich auf ein Signal vorbereiteten. Plötzlich ertönte eine Sirene und alle Verkäufer eilten dazu, ihre Stände zu verpacken und aus dem Weg zu räumen. Wir waren verwirrt, bis wir sahen, wie der Zug langsam durch den Markt fuhr.
Es war unglaublich, hautnah dabei zu sein, wie der Zug durch den Markt fuhr. Die Verkäufer und Kunden schienen es gewohnt zu sein und verhielten sich völlig ruhig, während der Zug vorbeifuhr. Sobald der Zug vorbei war, begannen die Verkäufer sofort wieder, ihre Stände aufzubauen und ihre Waren zu verkaufen.
After watching the train pass through the market, we decided to continue looking around. There were so many delicious and exotic foods that we wanted to try. We bought some fresh mango smoothies and enjoyed them as we continued to stroll through the market.
After about an hour, we decided to leave the market and head to the Floating Market, which I will write about in the next article. The Secret Market Maeklong Station was a truly unique experience and I would recommend anyone traveling to Thailand to plan a visit there. It is a great way to learn about the local culture and life of the people in the area.
Nachdem wir den Zug durch den Markt fahren gesehen hatten, beschlossen wir, uns weiter umzusehen. Es gab so viele leckere und exotische Lebensmittel, die wir probieren wollten. Wir kauften ein paar frische Mango-Smoothies und genossen sie, während wir weiter durch den Markt schlenderten.
Nach etwa einer Stunde beschlossen wir, den Markt zu verlassen und uns auf den Weg zum Floating Market machen, über den ich im nächsten Artikel schreiben werde. Der Secret Market Maeklong Station war ein wirklich einmaliges Erlebnis und ich würde jedem empfehlen, der nach Thailand reist, einen Besuch dorthin einzuplanen. Es ist eine großartige Möglichkeit, die lokale Kultur und das Leben der Menschen in der Gegend kennenzulernen.
