North Holland - Zuiderwoude

in Pinmapple3 years ago (edited)

I would like to share with you my memories of our holiday spent in a wonderful village called Zuiderwoude situated in North Holland. And as I love the combination of sports and travelling, for a change, I will guide you through this amazing place on a kick scooter.

First, let me give you a quick insight into our kick scooter travelling. It started three years ago when me and my dad bought kick scooters.

First, we were making long trips just in the surroundings but then we wanted more and we decided to go to the Netherlands for a week. Originally, I wanted to go to Amsterdam as I fell in love with this city and it is bike-friendly but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), we didn´t find any appropriate accommodation there. As Zuiderwoude seemed to be quite close to the city, we decided for that one. And it was a pretty good decision.

Zuiderwoude is a very small village and immediately when you enter it, you can see a church from 19th century.

When going on, you get a feeling of incredibly friendly, peaceful and calm place. The houses are all built in the same style, lined with brick or stone tiles and wood which is giving the village a fairytale look.

For our stay, we booked a small garden house which was very cosy...

... and had its own terrace with the view of large fields and a canal.

We took a short rest after the journey and went for our first ride. Just after some minutes of riding we realized that that kind of holiday would be the best compensation for our stressful days at work.

When leaving the center of the village, there were still some houses along the road, although quite rare.

But then, there was only the long narrow road lined by canals with calmly floating swan and duck families.

Right next to the canal, there were large fields with grazing animals.

Some of them were maybe pretending to be somebody else.😀

After several kilometers we realized there was nothing else but the canal, fields, animals and us. We didn´t meet anybody on our way, just in the middle of nowhere, there was a cart standing in the field, obviously offering local eggs.

There was a total silence which was from time to time interrupted by some animal sound.

And the air was filled with the smell of grass and spring.

From time to time, there were some canal junctions...

... and boats indicating that canal transport is for local people as usual as riding a bike.

Naturally, we were making trips also to other places in this area but I can easily imagine staying in this picturesque village for the whole week and just absorb the energy coming from the landscape.
