Overview

Found on the tranquil island of Tabango, Leyte, Buho Beach is a natural wonder for beach lovers. It is renowned for its unsullied natural beauty! The beach is a white sand paradise stretching across the shoreline. Visitors can also witness the vivid, clear blue of the waters and corals.

Location

Tabango is a municipality that has retained much of its natural beauty, so the resort's location is secluded. Fortunately, the roads are smooth, so it's very convenient for traveling.

Buho Beach Resort is a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Ormoc City. To go there, you may need to prepare a map or follow the GPS for directions (Google Maps, Waze). You should also bring your own vehicle, as Leyte has limited public transportation that will drive you directly to your location.

If your starting place is Tabango, it's a 15-minute short drive from the municipality. There are no landmarks near the resort, as there is limited commercial tourism, but there's a sign beside the road named Buho Beach. The scenery you'll see along the way is of dense trees, farmlands, and shores.

History

Have you ever wondered why the beach is named Buho? The word 'Buho' means owl, according to the locals. Locals believed the place was inhabited by nocturnal birds long ago.

Facilities and Amenities

Do you want to enjoy the beach without worrying about the bustle of people? Then Buho Beach is perfect for you. This beach is quite a distance from the city and residential areas. It's also unaffected by commercial tourism, considerably retaining its natural beauty. This is truly a haven for people seeking the tranquility of nature.

In turn, the beach has few amenities offered. Unlike other beaches, Buho Beach doesn't have lifeguards on duty. In addition, there are no stores selling foods, snacks, and other goods. However, I heard from locals that there are small restaurants and hotels nearby. If you're planning to go here, make sure that you plan your trip accordingly and bring all your essentials to fully enjoy the experience! By the way, the entrance fee is cheap. If I remember correctly, it's only 10 pesos per person. Don't worry; cottages are readily available for tourists.

Activities and Attractions

You can do quite a lot of activities in Buho Beach. If you like collecting seashells and other unique stones, you can try beachcombing along the shore!

Swimming and diving are also great, as you may be able to witness corals up close. Make sure that you're at a safe distance, though. Respecting nature is an inherent duty.

You can also lie in the fine white sand and sunbathe under the scorching sun. You can also enjoy your food while relaxing in their cottages or have a picnic while taking in the breathtaking views! You can rent a boat if you're lucky to see a boating fisherman.

Lastly, you can enjoy trekking or hiking on Buho Beach!

Reflection

I went to Buho with my auntie's family, who were natives of Tabango. They said this beach is the hanging spot of young locals in the municipality and a must-visit place for family celebrations and bonding moments! I was enamored with the place as only a few people were visiting the spot. The beach is clean, and stepping on the sand feels very relaxing. It's a great place to unwind! I'd love to go back here. They also have a bat cave here, but too bad, time was short, and I couldn't witness it.

Would you like to visit Buho Beach sometime?
