Seniga in nine minutes

Are you in a hurry now? Although you are, please stay here for a moment. It is possible that you would like to visit a small Italian town whose name you may have never heard of, but you don't have time... Well, it's not a problem, the solution is coming. If only I talk a little less and stop stealing your time, you will be able to visit this town, located near Cremona - and all just in nine minutes. That's how long it takes to walk from one end of Seniga to the place where you have already left the town at the very other end, and reached a bridge and a river that is worth visiting.

IMG_20240820_190626.jpg

Nine minutes, I say you. It was also what the navigation said when I checked from the hotel room before going to this little walk through Seniga. For no specific reason, we booked in this town to rest on our first day of driving back to Spain. It was afternoon when we arrived here but I still had a few hours to look around. (hours were not needed as you see, just minutes 🤣)

Anyway, it was a nice walk among these huge old houses. I felt like a dwarf seeing some of these tall buildings... Or was it just the Italian tradition to build houses this way? And who lived here? If you have seen the house in the first photo (ok, I will wait if you have to scroll back to see it again, we will be fine with time - it all enters in our nine-minute tour) and the huge main entrance... from the second photo? So, here I entered because I was curious to see the yard. There was no sign of trespassing prohibited, just beware of dogs. This is what I got to see, standing in the hall and looking toward the huge space in the yard:

IMG_20240820_190704.jpg

At first, I thought that this palace was a part of the house where I entered (and I couldn't stay for a long time as two big dogs started to bark 😳) but checking on Google Maps I realized it had some connection with this facade:

IMG_20240820_190909.jpg

Behind this yellow building with the huge wooden gate, framed with white columns and spikes on the top of them, there is a garden which is connected to that building I called "the palace". I still don't know who lived here and what history could be told by these old walls.

Maybe we should continue our touring if we want to stick to the nine-minute walk. I saw several other really old houses in Seniga.

Did you spot the cat?

IMG_20240820_185611.jpg

IMG_20240820_185306.jpg

This one was close to the river and also looked like a castle or a palace.

IMG_20240820_185849.jpg

Is this a dead-end street in Italian style? I don't think so as there is a gate at the end and someone would open it if I went there and knocked. But I didn't as my walk would last longer than the promised quick tour.

IMG_20240820_185457.jpg

Churches! This town, this small as it is has several churches, four as far as I can count. (plus one outside of the urban area). Please, correct me if I am wrong, as I spent some time trying to find out the names of them and realized there are only two parishes in Seniga. One is S. Maria Annunciata parish (outside of the town so I didn't go there) and the other parish is this huge one, S. Vitale parish which for me looked like two churches, one on top of the other.

IMG_20240820_185640.jpg

The smallest one is maybe just a chapel.

IMG_20240820_185000.jpg

The sun intensified the yellow colour of the tower.

IMG_20240820_185656.jpg

No luck in finding the name of this last one.

IMG_20240820_185831.jpg

Here we arrive at the end of the village. You see how quickly we did it, maybe it took me a bit more minutes than the navigation said as I stopped to take some photos but here in Hive the time passes faster. We are efficient tourists. 😁

IMG_20240820_185907.jpg

But let's see what is behind the town. The bridge and the river that I wanted to see when I checked where I should walk in this town.

IMG_20240820_185954.jpg

IMG_20240820_190002.jpg

This is the river Oglio. It made quite a loud music running quickly under the bridge. If I had a more adventurous spirit, I could try to go down to that small sandy beach that can be seen on the other side.

IMG_20240820_190021.jpg

IMG_20240820_190055.jpg

Instead, I went back to the town and searched for a restaurant or food store (no, there was none open 😂).

IMG_20240820_190147.jpg

Later, almost two hours later I came back to this bridge once again. My son also wanted to see the little churches and the river so this time I got different photos. The tower seems to be of a different colour now. I doubt someone painted it in the meantime. 😂

IMG_20240820_204115.jpg

IMG_20240820_204634.jpg

Looking at the other side of the bridge this time... the day was sending its greetings and prepared for the proper rest.

What a beautiful place and the walk in 9 minutes is amazing. You are very clever in finding these kinds of amazing places. Very nice photos have a nice weekend. :)

It's nicer to discover a smaller place you can't see otherwise and at the same time rest and recharge the energy to continue. Thank you @hindavi , a nice weekend to you too 😇

What random big buildings in a small village, they look out of place. YES I did spot it!!! LOL

YES I did spot it!!!

A very beautiful and quiet place. I really like the architecture and the natural landscapes, it seems to be a very old town too.

Well... I just read and the demographic evolution is since 1861 and it has very few inhabitants :)

Great shots dear @mipiano Have a great weekend 🤗

Well, according to the number of people I met on the streets (very few) and that I didn't find any grocery shop... but there was a post office, a pharmacy, a book store, and a closed bar :))

IMG_20240820_191239.jpg

Thank you and have a great weekend you too! :)

Uh, you're walking through the town, it's hot (I think) do you want to drink something and you find a bar (closed), the most important thing... Joke 🤣

A lovely place dear @mipiano

Have a nice weekend ;)

Thank you, yes, I stopped, I decided to do the tour with you, I figured it would be at an early hour since there was no one on the streets, or maybe the townspeople are very busy, or maybe there are few people, or both.

Beautiful houses, castles and churches, a town that lends itself very well to film a dramatic and catchy period movie.

The church tower was a victim of the daylight hours, fantastic, wasn't it?

Thanks for the ride, it was nice and pleasant.

🌹

Thank you @adaluna1973 for taking part in this little tour. :))
It was late afternoon, so maybe people already rested at home or had dinner. Later, when I went once again, at almost 9 p.m. there were a few more people on the streets, but not many. We rested well and had a very good breakfast at our accommodation the next morning and then continued with our journey.

A dramatic movie - that would be cool to film there. I hope the post was not very dramatic haha 😁

I love the drama, the location reminded me of something as special as Romeo and Juliet, that's what I meant.
It would be super nice to continue traveling through your posts...at least from my armchair I'll have that opportunity, it's more real than watching it from a TV documentary.

Have a great trip with your family.

🌹

Actually, Verona where the story of Romeo and Juliet was placed is not that far from this place. You got the right feeling... Last year we stayed close to Verona and one lake, Lago di Garda. This reminds me that I still haven't posted about that visit 😅 - a whole year passed... Ok, I will have to correct this delay one day 😁
Thank you!

Really????
I can't believe it, it's just that the buildings took me exactly to visualize the setting of that movie.
What a nice connection...

Well I would love to see the scenery of the place you say, please when you do will you tag me so I don't miss it?

Thanks

🌹

I saw the cat! It's my cat! What's it doing there, I must go and look for it hahaha

This image fascinated me, what a beautiful construction.

image.png

It strikes me how the tower changes colour to pink when the sun goes down. Very beautiful place, thank you for taking me with these pictures!

Aha, it was your cat! 😃 It looked familiar 😂 of course, as in Italy and you like Italian food, the cat too hahaha

The buildings are so cool, right? Not a touristic place but this is even better then - relax time without being surrounded with other tourists

It's the kind of place I like to walk around, but I want to go everywhere hahahaha

Yeah, I was there eating Italian food and cata escaped me, thank goodness you found her.... I'm going for it!

I hope she still waits for you there 😁 it's on the corner of the street Via Roma and Via San Rocco

I'm leaving right now, I have my plane waiting for me hahaha what an imagination I have for God's sake!

✈️

I don't go out at all.... I found her sleeping in her little bed... she seems to have found her way home hahahaha

Seniga has very interesting buildings, tall and such tiny windows! If there were no cars parked in the streets, one would think this was a ghost town, not a soul to be seen😉

...no, there was none open...

Always the case with small towns, we've been caught like that a couple of times, one forgets!
Road tripping really takes one to 'the road less travelled' when needing an overnight stop.

I usually go prepared for these situations, just in case I always have some extra water and food in the car so we didn't stay hungry 😁 but it's always better if we can find freshly cooked meals. The place we stayed was good and calm and the breakfast next morning - perfect! All in all, it was nice 😊 (hahaha, almost a ghost town 😁)

What a beautiful city in my country ❤️❤️ the buildings and the villas looks amazing and in only 9 minutes!!!

Yes, it's in your country 😇🍀 We pass through Italy every summer 🌞😊

The place looks so beautiful and cool

And calm ;)

what a lovely short walk! looks beautiful and very calm unlike most of well known and well promoted Italian cities, thanks for sharing this experiece here @mipiano, Im definitely inspired to repeat your walk once :)

That's true. These options to choose a smaller place have some advantages, one of them is not be in a very crowded environment ;)
Thank you for your comment, and welcome to Hive 🍀
