According to Wikipedia, " The Linnaean Garden or Linnaeus Garden (SwedishLinnéträdgården) is the oldest of the botanical gardens belonging to Uppsala UniversitySweden, and nowadays one of two satellite gardens of the larger University of Uppsala Botanic Garden, the other being the Linnaeus family's former summer home Linnaeus's Hammarby." - Wikipedia

It says that the garden was planned and planted by Carl Linnaean´s student, Olaus Rudbeck.

The garden is full of colorful flowers and quixotic plans which were collected around the world.

It was very nice to see many different kinds of plants I have never seen before. And it seems that many plants were collected around the world to show students at the university what they look like and how we can use them. It says that the garden is used to study for researching medicine which is made from some plants as well. 😃👏

Calabash!! I had never expected to see calabashes (bottle gourd, aka long melon) in Sweden. I did not even know what it was called in English before so that I checked it. Haha! But, this plant is very common in Japan and in East Asia. We use this plant to make water bottles! 😄

Passion fruit´s flower! My mother has this tree in her garden. It can only grow in a warm area in the world.

It was nice to see some of the plans from Asia, especially from Japan. 😀👏 I think that my mother would love to visit this garden so that I would like to come back here someday with her.

Carl Peter Thunberg

Carl Peter Thunberg - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Peter_Thunberg#Japan

Many people know may realize the last name, Thunberg as something with Greta Thunberg. Well, I guess that the name "Thunberg" is famous in Sweden. He is nothing with Greta, but he is one of the very first Swedish people who came to Japan in the 18th century. He stayed in Nagasaki, Dejima, Japan, to study plants in Japan. He is the so-called one of the students of Linnaean "Apostles of Linnaean". In the 18th century, it took so long to visit Japan from Europe. I have heard that  "The Tenshō Embassy" which is an embassy sent by a Japanese Christian lord, Otomo Sorin took 4 years by ship to arrive Rope from Japan. Well, the Tensho Embassy was sent from Japan in 17h, but I believe that it took much much longer when Carl Peter Thunberg visited Japan. I admire his passion for plants! When I saw these plants from Japan in the garden, it reminded me of his name. 😀👏

Linnaean Museum

Next to the garden, there is a house where Linnaean used to live with his wife. He was a professor at Uppsala Univesity, so I believe that it was convenient to live in this house where is located very close to the university campus.
