Thanks for the great informative post. I love visiting ruins as well, so much more than museums even though they are usually very rewarding too. When I was visiting Portugal, I thought the castle towns were fascinating (they are) until I visited some standing stones. Those take you to another place as one wonders what life was like for those neolithic people.

Indeed. While the castles can still bring a little part of what it was back then, the ruins are totally different only seeing what is left after everything they have been through. And that's a lot more heart touching. Thanks for stopping by!
