Travel to the former historic port and enjoy the beauty of the west-south coast of Aceh-Indonesia

in Worldmappin2 years ago

Hello friends.
Happy Saturday

Saturday is sunny and very suitable for traveling, because the beautiful scenery will be seen clearly without any fog, the sky looks very clear. Let's get ready, we will visit a place on the southwestern coast of Aceh, Indonesia.

This interesting place to visit is located in a city district that was just formed a decade ago, a district resulting from the division of the neighboring city district. Aceh Jaya Regency. There are many beautiful and interesting places, the most dominant of which is this area is known for its beautiful beaches. For those of you who are curious about the history of the formation of this Regency, I have attached a bit of history below, and you can read it fully in the original source which I have linked below.

  • Aceh Jaya used to have a port kingdom called the Daya Kingdom with its first King Sultan Alauddin Riayat Syah having the title Po Teumereuhom Daya. This Daya Kingdom later became the origin of the name Jaya District which was also used as the name of the new district of West Aceh. The Aceh region used to consist of many small port kingdoms that were easily influenced by the Portuguese. To counter the increasingly powerful Portuguese, the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam with its first Sultan Ali Mughayat Syah in the 16th Century tried to unify the coastal areas and complete port activities in Banda Aceh. The Sultan conquered small kingdoms such as Daya, Pedir and Samudera Pasai. The Daya area became increasingly crowded during the time of Sultan Iskandar Muda by bringing in residents from Aceh Besar and Pidie. Complete history of this district, you can read it here

The location that I visited was precisely located in a village whose position was on the shore of the beach. RIGAIH, is the name of the village.

There are many interesting things that we can learn here, But this time I focus on a place. Namely the place where a former port was here from ancient times, formerly this port became one of the many ports in Aceh which became an export and import port for natural products, such as spices. However, in 2004, this formerly magnificent port was destroyed by the devastating tsunami at that time. Leaving only a few parts of this port. But currently the local government is trying to rebuild this place. Besides that, this port is also very thick with history in the period before Indonesia's independence. So I think the government here should rebuild this historic place.

All that remains is a bridge that rises into the sea, while most of these buildings have been destroyed,

The location of this place is very close to the highway, sometimes on certain days it is also very crowded. Besides that, several other beach sides that are nearby are also very beautiful and certainly very interesting to visit

When you travel to this area, don't assume you won't find good food. Several traditional eating places located near this port, of course, also provide some of the culinary specialties of this region, which are of course delicious and truly unique. such as for example, prawn noodles, lobster noodles, squid and some traditional curry are also available.

But this time I didn't order all of that food, because I brought a lot of my own supplies to be enjoyed on the beach.

Still in the same village, but the location of the beach which has lots of coral reefs is slightly shifted from the port earlier.

The place is very beautiful, there are many people here every day to play or just take pictures here, some children can also be seen there taking a bath.

I just walk on the edge of this beautiful beach while breathing the cool air. Pine trees that grow a lot on the beach are very supportive for us to sleep under, you just don't forget to bring a mattress and put it on the sand, please sleep well :)

See there are a lot of former harbor pillars around here, that means this area used to be very famous for the many ship ports here. I'll say it again, a lot of interesting history used to happen here.

And I am now at a height, on a rocky mountain that is nearby.

From this height, we can see the beach and the blue sea, as well as views of the houses of the residents below. I also made the flowers at the top of this as a complementary part of my post today. :)

That's all for now, we will meet again in my next post, of course with a different place and location.

Thank you for taking your time to stop here, by...by...

I love the sea, this stretch of sea seems nice and unpolluted to me

Likewise with me, I really like the sea and like to travel to the beach.

That's right, the sea here is still very good and not polluted. Thank you very much @stefano.massari, for stopping at my post and also for your impressive comments.
